California: ICE Arrests Filipino National Wanted for Stabbing Roommates Over Orange Juice

LOS ANGELES, CA - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of a Filipino national who allegedly stabbed two roommates during a dispute over orange juice.

The alleged suspect, Phil John Amazona Yumang, was arrested on April 28 in Las Vegas, according to a press release from the Department of Homeland Security. He was convicted of two counts of attempted murder and battery with the use of a deadly weapon in Las Vegas.

He will remain in custody in Las Vegas pending deportation proceedings. "Phil John Amazona Yumang was arrested after allegedly stabbing two roommates during a dispute over orange juice,” ICE wrote in a Facebook post.

"Yumang, an undocumented immigrant from the Philippines, told authorities that he attacked one of the victims because they insulted him during the altercation. He also confessed to stabbing the second victim out of anger for getting involved."

Yumang was among five undocumented immigrants arrested in an immigration crackdown on April 28. The four other detainees are from Mexico, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.

Ricardo Rosales-Pineda, from Mexico, was convicted of murder in Harris County, Texas. Sarath Lon, from Cambodia, was convicted of homicide and second-degree murder in Concord, Massachusetts. Osmar Contreras-Bautista, from Guatemala, was convicted of sex with a minor 3+ years younger in Bakersfield, California.

Christian David Meneses-Machado, from Nicaragua, was convicted of transporting regulated firearms for unlawful sale or trafficking in Baltimore, Maryland.
