SAN DIEGO, CA – In late August, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested an illegal alien with a lengthy criminal history, including a prior conviction of a sexual offense involving a child under the age of 14. What’s more disturbing, according to authorities, was that the illegal alien was residing with his wife inside of a home she operated as a child daycare.
ICE San Diego announced the apprehension of one of their “most wanted” criminal illegal aliens this past August with the arrest of 47-year-old Eziquiel Cruz-Rodriguez, which the agency outlined his extensive criminal history stateside which includes convictions of “lewd acts with a child under 14, robbery, burglary, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being an alien in possession of a firearm, and illegal reentry.”
Cruz-Rodriguez was taken into custody on August 27th at the home where he resided with his wife, according to the agency, with ICE highlighting how Cruz-Rodriguez’s unnamed spouse, cited as a DACA recipient, was operating “an in-home daycare” at the very residence where the convicted sex offender lived.
According to officials, Cruz-Rodriguez had been removed from the United States on three separate occasions prior to his latest arrest, with his first removal occurring back in 1996 and the subsequent two taking place in 2003 and 2012.
Having reentered the country at an unknown date and time, Cruz-Rodriguez is also noted as being a member of the Logan Heights gang.
A Senior DHS official released a statement regarding Cruz-Rodriguez’s apprehension, emphasizing the alarming circumstances surrounding his unlawful residency within the country and, particularly, living in a home operating as a child daycare.
“It is SICKENING to think this pedophile criminal illegal alien was residing inside the home where a daycare operates and hiding out in a sanctuary city,” the statement from the senior DHS official reads.
“Thanks to the brave work of our ICE law enforcement officers, this criminal illegal alien, convicted pedophile, and known Logan Heights gang member—will no longer be able to prey on children inside a daycare. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, sickos like this will not walk free in the U.S.”
ICE took to social media following Cruz-Rodriguez’s apprehension, sharing clips of the bodycam footage showcasing his arrest.
