California Police Nab Four After Fremont Robbery Turns Into High-Speed Chase and Crash

SAN LEANDRO, CA – A Fremont robbery turned police pursuit came to an abrupt end earlier in October after officials say the suspect vehicle crashed in San Leandro. Police apprehended four suspects allegedly involved in the Fremont robbery, with officials reporting no injuries stemming from the ensuing crash following the police pursuit.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on October 3, officials say an individual was robbed outside of a bank located off Mission Boulevard in Fremont. The victim reportedly gave Fremont Police a description of the getaway vehicle used in the robbery, with authorities using automated license plate readers to locate the alleged vehicle used during the incident.

Police attempted to pull over the suspect vehicle shortly after locating it, with the driver opting to pull onto the I-880 northbound instead of submitting to the stop, leading to a pursuit that made its way into San Leandro. Fremont Police officials stated the driver crashed their vehicle once along the highway and two additional times while navigating surface streets upon exiting the interstate during the pursuit, with no injuries reported from the aforementioned collisions.

After the vehicle came to a stop, authorities say the four suspects attempted to flee on foot but were ultimately apprehended by officers. As for the property the victim was initially deprived of, officials say the nondescript stolen goods were recovered from inside the suspect vehicle. The four suspects, who’ve yet to be named by authorities as of this writing, are believed to also be connected to a similar robbery in a neighboring city from earlier in October.

A press release from the Fremont Police Department extended accolades to the California Highway Patrol, San Leandro Police Department, and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for their assistance during the pursuit, as well as noting that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

Officials are asking the local community to contact the Fremont Police Department's Investigations Unit directly if they have any information related to the incident, or to submit an anonymous tip online via the department’s non-emergency tip line.
