Canadian, US Border Patrol officials reveal 'unprecedented' illegal immigration from U.S.

QUEBEC, CANADA - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are encountering more illegal immigrants crossing the nation's southern border from the United States than ever before, with human smugglers plying a lucrative trade bringing illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. from Mexico over the northern border.

According to reporting from the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) citing the U.S. Border Patrol, the agency has recorded over 5,600 apprehensions year-to-date compared with 12,000 total in 2023 and 3,600 in 2022. In 2021, there were only 1,006 over the whole year, an increase of over 10,000%.

The Canadian government has been taking steps to attempt to staunch the flow of illegal immigrants who have fled American cities overrun with the often unemployed and homeless aliens for the more globally aligned and left-leaning northern nation.

As recently as February 2023, Roxham Road, a popular border crossing from the U.S. to Canada on the New York, Quebec border was closed and has not been reopened. Roxham is an unofficial crossing situated 5km away from the nearest of two official border crossings on either side of it.

Speaking with CBC, Jonathan LaHart, deputy patrol agent-in-charge for the U.S. Border Patrol at a station near Champlain, NY told the outlet, "These are levels that are truly unprecedented for us."

Sgt. Daniel Dubois of the RCMP said, "Sometimes it does get a little frustrating. You're running around chasing your tail all evening, all night, all day, day in, day out." Dubois was pursuing a suspected human smuggler tearing down backcountry roads well over the speed limit in a rented KIA from Ontario. "They obviously dropped some people off," he told a CBC reporter.

American lawmakers raised the alarm over the region, known as the Swanton Sector in a letter to President Joe Biden. Northern Border Security Caucus co-Chairmen Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Ryan Zinke (R-MT), House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) wrote, “Dangerous individuals continue to take advantage of the vast Northern Border, which is the longest land border between two countries in the world, and relatively unguarded by natural barriers."

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) wrote in a post to X, "Over 10,000 illegals have crossed over the Northern Border this year according to Swanton Sector Border Patrol agents. Between visa overstays, gotaways, the Southern Border, the Northern Border and the Biden flights directly from Latin America the true number of illegals that have entered America under Biden are just beyond comprehension!"
