Connecticut Teachers’ Union Teams Up With Anti-ICE Activists While Test Scores Plummet

DANBURY, CT - Get your children out of public schools.

In a city where only 24% of students in grades 3-8 were proficient in math and 36% in reading in the 2023-24 school year, it is heartwarming to know that the teachers' union and its members have their priorities straight.

According to the Connecticut Centinal, the Danbury chapter of the National Education Association was canvassing neighborhoods earlier this month with a progressive group that doxxes law enforcement agents, i.e., shares “a hotline community members can call to report ICE sightings” to protect illegal aliens taking up valuable space in the Danbury public schools. From Libs of TikTok:

According to the NewsTimes, 487 Danbury school system employees, the majority of them teachers, earned over $100,000 by June 30, 2024.

For that investment, Danbury parents have 75% of their elementary students who are not proficient in math, and nearly ⅔ are not proficient in reading. In fairness, not all teachers make such a large amount; however, a significant percentage do.

“Danbury’s teachers know that when our undocumented [illegal] students feel safe, they can focus on learning,” NEA Danbury said, after they spent a Saturday morning collaborating with Danbury Unites for Immigrants in a “Families Belong Together” campaign. That group has compared ICE’s actions to “ethnic cleansing.”

For the uneducated, “ethnic cleansing” is defined as “the attempt to create ethnically homogenous geographic areas through the deportation or forcible displacement of persons belonging to particular ethnic groups. Ethnic cleansing sometimes involves the removal of all physical vestiges of the targeted group through the destruction of monuments, cemeteries, and houses of worship.”

It hardly appears that ICE is engaged in ethnic cleansing by enforcing federal law passed by Congress and signed by the president.

Julie Kushner, a far-left Democratic Connecticut state senator, liked the post. Kushner believes Connecticut taxpayers should be on the hook for health care, insurance, and SNAP benefits for illegal aliens, and recently voted to protect illegal aliens inside Connecticut courts. She's also advocated for the death of President Trump.

Kushner is a favorite of far-left groups, including the Connecticut Communist Party, which previously awarded Kushner with an Amistad Award, along with Connecticut's esteemed stolen valor senator, Dick Blumenthal (D-CT).

She also has good company in the far-left lunatic department since she, along with Connecticut’s Trump-obsessed Attorney General, Democrat William Tong, received the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) Excellence in Education Advocacy Award. Perhaps Kushner and Tong, when he’s not suing Trump, should investigate why teachers making $100k can’t teach students to read and do math while they’re out advocating for lawbreaking illegal aliens.

NEA-Danbury is also run by gutless cowards, who decided to shut down comments on their Facebook post when pro-ICE comments began to vastly outnumber anti-ICE comments.

One Danbury teacher, Michael Alltop, a 7th-grade English teacher at Westside Middle School Academy in Danbury, posted the following in response to the post:

“My job as a teacher is not political, nor do I espouse political views in the classroom. I have no idea about whether anyone in my classroom is ‘illegal’ (such a hateful term), nor do I care. All I care about are the young people before me as we engage with literature and writing, using EVIDENCE, which is something that the haters would do well to educate themselves with.”

Some posters criticized Alltop, noting that he admitted attending a fundraiser for Danbury Unites for Immigrants in a “building full of illegals” without notifying, “ICE like a dutiful American.”

Someone suggested he take illegals into his own home and care for them so they don’t drain taxpayer money from the legal citizens of the U.S.

A retired teacher from Sandy Hook, Barbara Allen, wanted to know how to help illegals, and she didn’t get the answer she was likely looking for when someone suggested she “donate her taxpayer-paid pension.”

Many posters noted that illegals “cut to the front of the line” before legal immigrants who followed the proper process, and said that “Hispanics outvote Caucasian people with wanting illegals deported.”

Another poster, who should probably brush up on the law, said people should “flood” ICE with fake reports, apparently unaware that it’s a crime to make a false report to a law enforcement agency, the Centinal reminded.

The point of the matter is that you have an extensive public school system that is clearly failing its students, yet focuses its time and energy on encouraging people to break the law. It is a matter of screwed up priorities. For teachers, a majority earning $60,000 to over $100,000 per year, if they were in any other profession and failed at the rate they’re failing at, they would be on the unemployment line.

One poster drew attention to that fact, “Danbury Schools have a C-rating so maybe you should concentrate on actual American Citizens!!!”
