NEW YORK CITY, NY – As recently reported by Law Enforcement Today (LET), New York City is facing a serious illegal immigrant problem, that in the words of their very own mayor, will “destroy New York City.”

On Friday, September 15th, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), attempted to give a press conference with Jerry Nadler and other Democrat law makers on the migrant issue in Manhattan, but heated New York protestors made it nearly impossible.

The angry protestors, who disrupted the press conference, demanded action against the unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants in the Big Apple. Jonathan Rinaldi, a Queens City Council candidate, joined a crowd of protesters, shouting, "Send them back!”

Signs held by some of the protestors read, “Americans first: Vetted & legal migrants only.”

Democrat lawmakers recently visited an emergency shelter in midtown Manhattan that has seen a surge in illegal immigration, which has resulted in increased trash and crime in the area. Those protesting found out about the visit and showed up at the press conference.

Right before the protest erupted, Ocasio-Cortez said, “What we seek to do is make sure that all the resources are necessary and that we are joining with the city and state.”

However, her attempts to address the situation were repeatedly interrupted by a man using a megaphone shouting, “Illegal immigration is not right! Respect the constitution, close the border.”

Other reports said that in the same speech, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that work authorizations could “solve the crisis,” which data show that have only ignited a surge of illegal immigrants in past years.

Another protestor shouted, “Close the border! Close the border! Respect the constitution AOC. I am your constituent.”

Journalist Andy Ngô shared video of the protests on X, formerly Twitter, “Protesters in Manhattan heckled a pro-migrant press conference by Democrat politicians in front of the Roosevelt Hotel, which has become a migrant center. Congresswoman AOC was one of the speakers.”

At a Town Hall meeting on September 6th, Mayor Eric Adams flat out told New Yorkers that the migrant crisis and continued influx of illegal immigrants will “destroy New York City.”

During that meeting he said, “Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City … We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month.”

Adams warned that the influx of illegal immigrants could cost tax payers up to $12 billion over the course of three years.

According to FOX5, more than 113,000 migrants have passed through New York City since spring 2022, with nearly 60,000 of them still within the city.

The New York Post reported that one of the protesters, 59-year-old David Rem, said that many of the migrants being sheltered by New York City “jumped” the immigration line. Rem said, “My wife’s children, Diego and Lina, have been waiting seven long years in Medellin, Colombia, to come to this country legally. They have paid all the immigration fees and have been fingerprinted by the FBI. They have done everything right – they have been waiting and they haven’t broken federal law by crossing the border illegally, so why not them?”

He added, “From the bottom of my heart, I implore Biden to close the border. It’s two years overdue. If you keep rewarding people for breaking federal law by crossing the border and coming to New York illegally, it’s never going to stop.”

Before AOC was drowned out by the protestors at the press conference, she said that the Democrat lawmakers would like to see three things:

  •        Increased federal resources to the city
  •        Sped up work authorization
  •        An extension of immigration parole so migrants from at least 11 different countries can start working        immediately when they arrive
