WASHINGTON, D.C. - A Monday release from the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) confirmed Monday that the controversial "CBP One" mobile application, designed to streamline illegal immigrant processing and facilitate entry into the U.S. by the Biden Administration will no longer be accepted as a form of identification for domestic flights.
According to the release published to X, “TSA has discontinued the use of the CBP One app. Illegal aliens who previously had their identity established using CBP One will only be permitted into the checkpoint if TSA can determine the purpose of travel is for deportation or movement between detention facilities.”
The agency added, “If TSA cannot verify the identity of an illegal alien at a checkpoint without ID, the individual will not be permitted to enter the sterile area or board an aircraft.”
A DHS spokesperson explained the order from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, telling Fox News, "Secretary Noem is reversing the horrendous Biden-Era policy that allowed aliens in our country illegally to jet around our country and do so without identification. Under President Trump, TSA and DHS will no longer tolerate this. Aliens in our country illegally can no longer fly unless it is out of our country to self-deport," they said.
As noted by the outlet, the functionality of the "CBP One" app grew prodigiously during the Biden administration to allow illegal immigrants to schedule appointments to meet with CBP officials for asylum appointments in advance and acted as a standalone proof of identification allowing TSA to compare DHS record images to biometric screening. Under the Trump Administration, this functionality has been stripped from the application and it has been retooled and rebranded as "CBP Go."
The move comes just months after a Homeland Security inspector general report cited by The New York Post expressed growing alarm that “high risk” illegal immigrants were permitted to enter the U.S. illegally and then travel domestically with impunity.
The report observed, “TSA’s vetting and screening procedures do not eliminate the risk that noncitizens who may pose a threat to fellow passengers could board domestic flights.” The Office of Inspector General added, “Under current processes, [Customs and Border Protection] and [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] cannot ensure they are keeping high-risk noncitizens without identification from entering the country.”
