The International Narcotics Interdiction Association (INIA), also known as Skynarc, is a non-profit, educational, corporation dedicated to providing high quality drug interdiction and narcotic related training for law enforcement professionals.

Since its inception in 1991, INIA has trained thousands of local, state, federal and international law enforcement officers either at their annual national conference or at one of their seminars in the United States or around the world. INIA has over 2500 active members and our member directory includes over 5000 law enforcement agencies and task force units.

INIA’s founding members as well as members through the years are responsible for much of the case law that interdiction and narcotic officers operate under today.

INIA will be presenting the 33rd Annal Drug/Terrorist Interdiction Conference from May 12-16, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel on Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference offers over 30 criminal interdiction and narcotic related classes taught by nationally recognized instructors from around the United States.

INIA’s instructors include active and retired local, state, federal, and international officers who have extensive experience in their area of law enforcement and are recognized by their peers as experts in their field. The INIA conference offers vital and core curriculum classes designed for law enforcement just entering the interdiction/narcotic field, to better prepare them to succeed in their criminal interdiction/narcotic assignments.

These classes include: airport interdiction, small aircraft interdiction, bus interdiction, train interdiction, hotel/motel interdiction, commercial motor vehicle interdiction, highway interdiction, freight interdiction, US postal interdiction, parcel interdiction, criminal characteristics, asset forfeiture, canine use in interdiction cases and case law updates.

New innovative classes on advanced topics are also offered for experienced interdiction/ narcotic officers to help broaden their knowledge base.

These classes include: CJNG cartel, bulk cash currency investigations, building a prosecutable case, leveraging Apple and Android records in your investigation, Mexican cartels and global distribution, spirituality in drug trafficking, EPIC overview, human trafficking, fentanyl investigations, hidden assets in forfeiture cases, Darknet investigations, EPIC overview, Snapchat/Telegram/TikTok investigations, Los Hs cartel, border security and police officer accountability.

There is one general session class which brings all the attendees together for our keynote presentation. This year, agents involved in an Amtrak interdiction case in Tucson, Arizona that involved a shooting in which one DEA Supervisor was killed and two others shot during the encounter.

This powerful presentation will be from agents that were there that tragic day to share their experience and guidance to the attendees.

The conference also provides time for extensive networking opportunities for attendees to meet other officers and develop useful contacts, share and learn investigative strategies, as well as discover new techniques and criminal trends from across the United States. INIA board members throughout the year often hear from conference attendees that because of knowledge obtained from one of the many classes or a relationship built through networking it enabled them to either make a substantial case or take an existing case to the next level.

INIA also has an awards banquet where law enforcement units and individuals are recognized in a variety of different categories for their outstanding efforts. The banquet is included with the registration fee and is a wonderful way to celebrate the achievements of the INIA members.

INIA is honored to have The Michael Garbo foundation as a partner of the International Narcotics Interdiction Association scholarship program in memory of fallen Drug Enforcement Administration Group Supervisor Michael G. Garbo who was killed tragically during a train interdiction in Tucson, Arizona. Agent Garbo was also a member of the INIA organization.

The Michael Garbo Foundation along with International Narcotics Interdiction Association supports young men and women who represent the qualities of justice, honor, and accountability. We recognize the importance of supporting students as they pursue their academic excellence. “Education is the key to success.”

The INIA conference attendance has continued to grow each year to over 800 sworn law enforcement officers, police attorneys, prosecutors and intelligence analysts. These attendees include international, federal, state, and local officers as well as HIDTA and various task force groups.

INIA takes pride in its long-storied training history and works hard every year to provide affordable, up-to-date, and highly informative training to law enforcement officers to keep them current in new techniques and methods. INIA would welcome the opportunity to show you why INIA is the premier training organization in field of criminal interdiction and narcotics.
