Doorcam Video Reveals 'Last Known Appearance' of Three Washington Sister's Father Before Their Deaths

CHELAN COUNTY, WA- As police continue their manhunt for Travis Decker, a suspect in the deaths of his three young daughters, they have released doorbell camera footage of Decker in the days before the girls were found dead in his car near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, People Magazine reports.

On June 4, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) shared an update on Facebook with a recent video and pictures of Decker in the days leading up to the visitation he planned with his daughters on May 30. Decker never returned the girls, and days later, the gruesome discovery was made.

His daughters Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5, were found on Monday, June 2 in the afternoon after police found their car near the campground, the Wenatchee Police Department said in a press release on June 3.

Authorities say the girls likely died from asphyxiation, according to a preliminary report filed in Chelan County Superior Court, Fox 13 Seattle reported.

“We have obtained recent video footage and pictures of Mr. Decker, which are attached to this release," the sheriff’s office said in a Wednesday news release. "However, these videos and photos are from the days leading up to his visitation began with the girls. These are the most recent photos and videos we have that reveal his last known appearance.”

Authorities currently hold warrants for Decker, charging him with three counts of murder in the first degree and kidnapping in the first degree. Police are asking the public to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant it may appear.

The doorcam footage shows Decker approaching a house wearing sunglasses and a light T-shirt, police said.

The team of Law Enforcement and support personnel working the case continue extensive efforts while acting upon potential leads,” the CCSO release read. “As we take an ‘all hands’ approach to investigating the murder of three young girls, the team morale remains elevated as we work toward locating Travis Decker.

“Investigators are working collaboratively throughout the county and across the state to contact and interview all known associates of Mr. Decker to further develop leads and his potential next moves. Additionally, more teams are being deployed to different sites Mr. Decker was known to frequent in the area,” police added.

“New information has revealed Mr. Decker is well-versed in wilderness survival and capable of spending days or even weeks in the wilderness on his own and with very little equipment. Although this can be a challenge while searching for him, our personnel are well equipped and prepared to seek and apprehend him,” the release continued.

When Decker didn’t return with the girls by 8 pm Monday, their mother, Whitney, became concerned after he picked them up at 5 pm, Fox News reported, citing a detective.

Court documents obtained by KIRO-7 News said Whitney filed for divorce on Nov. 14, 2022, noting that no protection or restraining order was needed and she expressed no concerns about “abandonment, neglect, child abuse, domestic violence, assault, or sex offense.”

On Sept. 20, 2024, however, Whitney’s lawyer filed a modification to the parental schedule, KIRO said. The documents noted that Decker had “neglected his parental duties towards a child” and “has a long-term emotional or physical problem that gets in the way of his ability to parent,” the modification read.

Whitney Decker also asked that Decker be evaluated for “anger management/domestic violence, and a full psychiatric evaluation by a licensed psychiatrist to include any potential diagnoses,” KIRO stated, and asked that he attend counseling sessions at least twice a month.

The documents continued that if Decker failed to follow through on those recommendations, the “mother will have the choice to further limit visitation,” KIRO-7 News continued.
