Inside the Night Honoring America’s Law Enforcement Leaders

On April 14, 2026, I had the honor of attending the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation Award Ceremony at Club 101 in New York City. The evening brought together some of the most dedicated leaders and supporters of the law enforcement community, recognizing individuals who continue to make a meaningful impact on public safety across this nation.

For those unfamiliar, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation serves as the charitable arm of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA). Its mission is simple but critical. The Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to officers and families in crisis, acts as a first responder in times of tragedy, and funds programs that support officer wellness and family stability.

Whether assisting families after line of duty deaths, supporting those facing serious injuries or medical hardships, or helping officers navigate personal crises, the Foundation steps in when it matters most.

Beyond emergency assistance, the Foundation also invests in the future of law enforcement families by awarding scholarships to the children of federal officers. Thousands of scholarships have been awarded over time, helping to create opportunities for families impacted by service.

The Foundation also prioritizes wellness and suicide prevention initiatives, addressing the very real mental health challenges faced by those in the profession. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by dedicated volunteers, the majority of its resources go directly to those in need. Simply put, the Foundation exists for one purpose.

To take care of federal law enforcement officers and their families quickly, directly, and without unnecessary bureaucracy.

The ceremony recognized several individuals who exemplify service, leadership, and commitment to public safety.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was honored with the Law Enforcement Patriot of the Year Award. This recognition was well deserved for someone who has shown a steadfast commitment to protecting those who protect our country and ensuring the safety and security of our communities.

Todd Lyons, Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was recognized as Law Enforcement Leader of the Year. Director Lyons continues to lead from the front, taking on one of the most challenging roles in federal law enforcement.

Despite the pressures and scrutiny that come with the position, he remains focused on supporting the men and women he leads while carrying out the critical mission of protecting our nation.

I have had the opportunity to get to know both Todd Blanche and Todd Lyons over the past year, and I am proud to call them colleagues and friends. Our country is safer because of their leadership, and they deserve the full support of this nation.

The evening also recognized the important role media plays in shaping public understanding of law enforcement. Lisa Kennedy Montgomery and Emily Compagno of Fox News were honored with the News Media Honor Guard Award for their continued efforts to tell the true story of law enforcement in this country.

Both consistently use their platforms to highlight the importance of public safety and the men and women who uphold it. Kennedy’s independent voice brings attention to the real challenges officers face, while Compagno’s legal background provides thoughtful, fact-based analysis that reinforces the critical role law enforcement plays in maintaining order and protecting communities.

At a time when public discourse can be divided, both have demonstrated a commitment to elevating the conversation and ensuring law enforcement professionals are properly understood and respected.

None of the success of the Foundation would be possible without the leadership of Jon Adler, National President of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation. Jon has demonstrated exceptional leadership, ensuring that federal officers and their families are never alone in times of need.

His commitment to advancing programs focused on officer wellness, financial assistance, and survivor support has made a lasting impact on the law enforcement community. Jon embodies what it means to serve beyond the badge, and his leadership continues to strengthen the Foundation’s mission.

Finally, I want to recognize Kyle Reyes, CEO of Law Enforcement Today, for his continued support of the law enforcement community. Through one of the largest pro law enforcement media platforms in the country, Kyle has amplified the voices of those who serve and ensured their stories are told accurately and honestly.

He has consistently stepped up to highlight the challenges, sacrifices, and successes of law enforcement officers across the nation. Beyond his professional contributions, Kyle is someone I consider my best friend, someone I trust without hesitation to do the right thing every time, even when it is difficult.

He is the kind of person who will always have my back and stand up for what is right, regardless of the challenges, and that integrity is reflected in everything he does.

Kyle was also the driving force behind the Big Blue Bash held at Mar a Lago, where the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation was the beneficiary. On November 17, 2026, he will host the second annual Big Blue Bash, which promises to be even bigger and better.

The funds raised will once again go directly toward supporting our law enforcement heroes and helping tell the real stories of what they face every day.

Events like this serve as an important reminder. Behind every badge is a person, a family, and a community that depends on them. The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation ensures that when those officers need support, that support is there without hesitation.
