NORTH FORT MYERS, FL - Authorities have arrested a man who has been accused of fatally shooting his neighbor's cow after having previously expressed anger over livestock jumping his fence.

According to NBC News, 54-year-old Hung Trinh has been charged with animal cruelty and grand theft of a commercial farm animal. The Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) said that Trinh shot the two-year-old cow on the neighbor's property five times in its chest, gut, and rear leg. A veterinarian determined that the cow needed to be euthanized, due to the significant injuries.

In a statement, LCSO Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, "There will be accountability for taking your frustration out on innocent animals, in this case, multiple felonies and jail time. We know how much these animals mean to our farming community and we will not tolerate these actions. I am proud of my Agriculture Unit for their immediate response and ability to make an arrest in this case."

The calf's owner said Trinh had previously expressed anger over this livestock jumping the fence and threatened to shoot the animals. The sheriff's office added that its detectives executed a search warrant and found the .22 caliber gun in a shed on Trinh's property. Trinh is in custody and his bond was set at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 16th.

In a separate incident, a Utah man has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his two dogs while under the influence of psychedelics. Officers from the Tooele Police Department (TPD) said they were dispatched to 1647 N. Ashlin Ct. on April 4th after receiving a call from a woman who reported that her husband was acting strangely and threatening to kill himself.

Upon arriving on scene, officers spoke with the caller, who said she and her husband had taken LSD. She told officers that her husband, 31-year-old Marcus Michael Fritz, had a strange reaction to the drugs and shot their two dogs. At the time, she was unware whether the animals were alive.

Officers contacted Fritz by phone and he "asked if this was really happening." When asked about the two dogs, Fritz started to cry. He eventually came outside and was detained by officers. Police executed a search warrant of the home and found a 9 mm pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, 9 mm casings, one shotgun casing, two shotgun magazines, and two large dogs lying on the ground, deceased, with apparent gunshot wounds.

Police also discovered what they believed to be several bullet holes in the floor and ceiling. Fritz was booked into the Tooele County Jail on a $5,000 bond. He is facing two third-degree felony charges of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, two Class B misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty, and one Class A misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment.
