Criminal justice reform advocate, Joe Rogan guest, arrested in connection with murder via headless torso

NEW YORK CITY, NY - Sheldon Johnson Jr., a 48-year-old criminal justice advocate who gained recent attention as a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, has recently found himself at the center of a chilling murder case.

The New York Police Department's wellness check at Johnson's Bronx apartment led to the discovery of dismembered remains, including a headless torso, arms, and legs, sparking an investigation that has sent shockwaves through the community.

Johnson's journey from a troubled past to an advocate for criminal justice reform took a dark and perplexing turn when law enforcement officers uncovered the grisly scene within his residence. Johnson's arrest on charges of murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon has raised questions about the authenticity of his claimed personal transformation after 25 years of incarceration.

The victim, identified as 44-year-old Colin Small, adds another layer of complexity to the case. The nature of the relationship between Johnson and Small remains unclear, with law enforcement sources suggesting a possible dispute stemming from their shared time in prison. Johnson's previous affiliation with the Bloods gang and his purported efforts to distance himself from it post-incarceration have added intrigue to the unfolding and disturbing tragedy.

Despite Johnson's recent advocacy for at-risk youth as a counselor with the Queens Defenders, the serious charges have cast a shadow over his public image. The dichotomy between his efforts at redemption and the heinous crime he is accused of committing points to the complexity of individual transformation and the challenges of reconciling past actions with present aspirations.

The investigation into the murder case is ongoing, with authorities seeking to establish the motive behind the gruesome crime. The medical examiner's determination of the cause of death for Colin Small is anticipated to provide further insights into the tragic incident. The gravity of the situation has prompted the Queens Defenders office, Johnson's former employer, to exercise professional restraint, refraining from commenting on the case as legal proceedings unfold.

Johnson's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in February, where he shared insights into his prison experiences and efforts at personal reform, adds a layer of public interest to the case.

"Prison does two things to you: It brings out the best or it brings out the worst," Johnson said on the show.

Civil rights attorney Josh Dubin, a guest on the same podcast, referred to Johnson as "a miracle."

“I really said: I have to change my life. I have to change my life. I just can’t do this,” Johnson explained on The Joe Rogan Experience, in February, “I had a wife, I had kids, I had family still, my son was growing up. He was hearing stories of my so-called notoriety. I just didn’t want to be that dad.”
