NAUMD Best Dressed Public Safety Award

NAUMD, committed to fostering innovation and recognizing exceptional uniform programs, bestowed the prestigious Best Dressed Public Safety Department® Award upon two departments outfitted by GALLS®.

Each award-winning program exemplifies GALLS®'s dedication to providing tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of diverse public safety agencies. Independent judges meticulously evaluated submissions based on appearance, functionality, innovation, and adherence to uniform standards.

Here are the two distinguished departments honored for their outstanding uniform programs:

2025 Best Dressed Public Safety Department® Award – Police & Sheriff Department Category
Winner: Henrico County Police Division
Uniform Program Partners: GALLS® and Fechheimer

Henrico County Police Division
Henrico County Police Division

In a bold move to evolve their identity, Henrico County Police transitioned to a new uniform, the third change in its 85-year history. With over 630 officers, the department partnered with Flying Cross and GALLS® to design a professional, everyday uniform that emphasized both form and function. A standout feature is the department-exclusive two-toned Hybrid Under-Vest Shirt (French Blue upper, Navy Blue lower), delivering both a distinct look and enhanced comfort. GALLS® was able to alleviate the Logistics Unit by stocking and supplying uniforms to all officers, relieving a massive burden that had been previously placed on the Logistics Unit.

2025 Best Dressed Public Safety Department® Award – Correctional Category
Winner: Lexington-Fayette Division of Community Corrections
Uniform Program Partners: GALLS®

This Lexington-based corrections agency – housing 1,260 inmates and staffed by 323 officers – set out to create a uniform program that reflects pride, tradition, and professionalism. GALLS® collaborated with the department for over 27 months to overhaul its uniform standards.

Highlights include a reverse color scheme Color Guard uniform featuring a gray Stratton Trooper hat, redesigned Class A and B uniforms, custom insignia, service ribbons, and a trio of department-specific shoulder patches honoring the "Thin Gray Line." These updates strengthen officer identity, morale, and appearance, reinforcing the authority and respect due to correctional professionals.

"These awards reflect the collaborative spirit between GALLS® and the agencies we serve," said Mike Fadden, CEO of GALLS®. "We are incredibly proud of these recognitions, and we share this honor with the departments who trust us with their image and performance needs. At GALLS®, we are relentless with our focus on the customer. These awards are direct results of listening, innovating, and delivering with purpose."
