ST. PAUL, MN - A school bus carrying close to a dozen kids crashed into a Hamline University science building in St. Paul on Tuesday afternoon, June 2.
Video shows a bus crashed into the Robbins Science Center on the Hamline University campus off Snelling Avenue North near Hewitt Avenue, according to FOX 9. It appears the bus crashed into the north side of the building shortly after 2:00 p.m.
Three children were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bus driver was also transported to a local hospital to be treated. Police said that as of now, the injuries appear to be minor. Police also checked the building to make sure no one inside was injured. A Hamline University spokesperson said that none of their students, staff or faculty were injured in the crash.
St. Paul Police spokeswoman Nikki Muehlhausen said the bus was transporting children from Higher Ground Academy, a charter school in St. Paul, KSTP reported.
While the incident is still under investigation, bystander video captures an interaction with a man appearing to explain to police that the brakes went out prior to the crash.
The bus involved in the crash bears the name "PTB Services," corresponding to Pride Transportation Bus Services. According to Department of Public Safety records, six of the seven PTB Services buses inspected from January through April failed inspection.
