WASHINGTON, DC – A Washington, D.C., local who caught on camera the moment when a now-former Justice Department employee hurled a Subway sandwich at a federal agent earlier in August has spoken out regarding the absurd incident, alleging the former Justice Department employee appeared ready to vandalize a government vehicle before opting to carry out the assault.
A seemingly booze-fueled sandwich-throwing incident from August 10th has resulted in the firing and arrest of 37-year-old Sean Charles Dunn, who previously worked at the Justice Department’s international affairs section of the criminal division. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed Dunn’s dismissal from the Justice Department on August 14th, taking to social media with, “I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice – NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony.”
Video of the incident made the rounds online earlier in August, rapidly going viral largely due to the ridiculous nature of the matter, which in turn amounts to a very serious offense for the accused. As seen in the video, a man identified as Dunn can be seen aggressively posturing toward federal agents in the nation’s capital before throwing a Subway sandwich and attempting to flee from pursuing agents.

Cortez Dargin, a D.C. local, captured the now-viral footage and has shared some additional details regarding the lead-up to the incident. Speaking with the New York Post, Dargin stated, “In the beginning, there was a bunch of ruckus. I [saw] this guy walk across the street saying ‘these guys are fascists’ and everything,” prior to Dunn reportedly lobbing the sandwich.
According to Dargin, Dunn was seemingly intoxicated while trying to attract a crowd to his theatrics, saying, “Then he was trying to get our attention. Like he came directly towards us.” The witness believed that Dunn was initially going to do something nefarious to the federal agents’ vehicles, telling the outlet, “He asked me, ‘What car did the feds pull up in?’ and I said, ‘I dunno.’ He goes up to the car, and I thought he was gonna do something to the car.”
While Dargin couldn’t predict exactly what Dunn was going to do that evening, he knew something was about to occur that would be worth filming, saying, “It was mostly for him because, like, ‘You were really drunk. When you see this video, when you sober up, you’re gonna be like whoa.’” Needless to say, Dargin was certainly right about the sobering qualities of Dunn’s current circumstances.
What Dargin found particularly amusing regarding the incident was the manner in which Dunn tried to flee from authorities after the sandwich debacle, saying, “The craziest thing to me was the posture, the whole body movement - I’ve never seen [anybody] move like that. He moved like a little lizard or something.”
Dunn has since been released on his own recognizance following an August 14th court appearance, with prosecutors agreeing they had no basis to argue Dunn’s continued detainment while the legal proceedings play out.
