Since President Trump was voted in and took back the White House, a sense of calm and ease has washed over the entire law enforcement community. The optimism that came with his victory can be felt, heard, and seen everywhere across the country.
Many officers now feel an added sense of security because they know there is a reduced likelihood that they will become political scapegoats by liberal politicians. Cops now know that labeling the law enforcement community as public enemy number one is no longer the political flavor of the day.
Trump’s adamant support for the law enforcement community is improving our culture and is slowly making it the noble profession it once was.
But there is still a long way to go.
Recruiting numbers are still below what is needed to effectively police the country, and the retirement numbers are impacting that as well.
According to a Police Executive Research Forum survey from the Law Enforcement Bulletin, between 2020 and 2021, the law enforcement resignation and retirement rates increased by 18% and 45%, respectively. Four of the largest metropolitan police departments are collectively down over 5,400 officers during 2022 and 2023.
Many agencies across the nation are getting creative with their recruiting policies; sign-on bonuses, reduced educational requirements (not good), more lenient tattoo policies, a softened background check, and lowered physical fitness requirements are just a handful of ways departments are taking to boost recruitment.
It shouldn’t have to be this way but the reality is, what other way is there?
Michael Letts and InVest USA feel there is another way – have President Trump and his administration get involved with increasing recruitment.
Letts is the CEO and founder of InVest USA, a nonprofit organization that gives tactical vests to law enforcement and first responders. He is also a political analyst, an LEO advocate, and is among the most avid law enforcement supporters in America. He has his finger on the pulse of our nation and understands what is truly needed to keep America healthy and the world power she should be.
He also understands why America is suffering from a police recruiting crisis to begin with.
“There is no respect for law and authority, so of course if there's no respect for law and authority, and you have very few people that want to uphold it, and you get to the situation that we're at today. Suddenly you begin to have people stopping and realizing we cannot survive in this direction for much longer,” Letts previously said.
In fact, Letts dives deep into all of the issues we face today and covers every inch of it in his book Truth, Lies and Control: Finding Hope in an Upside-Down World. (available HERE).
He understood the dangers of defunding police, the ‘soup of the day’ back in 2020.
“Sure, we can defund the police because we think they are the problem, but doing so only creates a new set of problems, including emboldening criminals and empowering those with mental illness,” he wrote in his book.
One of his solutions to police recruitment is simple, get the Trump administration involved! Having the voice and support of one of the most triumphant people in the world in President Trump, will go a long way in helping solve the recruitment crisis.
The officers currently on duty who are mandated to work overtime to fill staffing gaps deserve it. The victims of senseless crime deserve it. And the United States of America deserves it.

Have an issue with how Trump could be an "adamant" police supporter when he pardoned all J6 who attacked, severely injured and caused the death of 3 officers. If he truly felt that way he wouldn't have let these maniacs get off but it's all about his supporters. LEO beware..
