ICE Issues Detainers for Three New York MS-13 Gang Members Accused Of Grisly Crimes

NASSAU COUNTY, NY – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials announced the issuing of detainers for three violent MS-13 gang members currently in custody in Nassau County following a joint operation between the agency and local law enforcement.

A trio of alleged MS-13 gang members were arrested by Nassau County Police on August 8th following a joint operation conducted alongside ICE’s New York City office and the FBI.

According to a press release from ICE, the three illegal immigrants identified as 21-year-old Elias Wilfredo Serrano Bonilla, 19-year-old Edras Daniel Velasquez Giron, and 20-year-old Jeffrey Bladimir Valladares Archaga collectively harbor over a dozen counts of attempted murder and nearly fifty counts of assault.

Bonilla, an illegal alien from El Salvador who reportedly entered the country sometime prior to December 2016, was previously arrested by Nassau County Police in January of 2020 on various assault charges.

Following the August 8th arrest, Bonilla is now facing eight counts of attempted murder alongside numerous other violent felony charges, including: first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree robbery, first-degree gang assault, second-degree conspiracy to commit a Class A felony, seven counts of attempted first-degree assault w/ a weapon, three counts of second-degree robbery causing injury, nine counts of second-degree assault w/ a weapon, third-degree robbery, seven counts of second-degree attempted assault, seven counts of third-degree assault, and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Giron, an illegal alien from Honduras who entered the country sometime before June of 2022 and was ordered removed back in September of 2023, joins Bonilla in the list of serious felonies he’s standing accused of.

With six counts of attempted murder, Giron was also charged with: first-degree gang assault, second-degree conspiracy to commit a Class A felony, five counts of first-degree assault w/ a weapon, five counts of second-degree assault w/ a weapon, five counts of third-degree assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Archaga, an illegal alien also from Honduras who entered the country sometime in 2022, harbors the least egregious offenses charged in comparison to the other two alleged MS-13 gang members, having been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license.

ICE’s acting director, Todd Lyons, issued a statement in light of the three suspects apprehended by local law enforcement, saying, “America is no longer a dumping ground for foreign criminals and gang members. ICE will continue to find, arrest and remove MS-13 and other terrorists who come here to wreak havoc on communities and destroy this nation.”
