West Virginia Proves ICE Isn’t the Problem, Politics Are

Charleston, WV: ICE has recently conducted a two-week statewide operation with the cooperation of the attorney general’s office and local police and detained 650 illegal immigrants with relative ease.

Unlike Minnesota.

For weeks, liberal Minnesota officials have been crying foul about ICE detainment operations becoming overly aggressive, lacking oversight, and overreaching their authority. Their unsubstantiated claims reverberated with the easily-manipulated liberal community members who took to the streets to protest ICE operations, often illegally interfering, and did nothing more than add chaos to what should have been a relatively simple process.

The liberal community, including far left-leaning mainstream media outlets, has continued citing the Minnesota violence as a direct result of the ICE presence and their aggressive tactics. The liberal rhetoric then led to additional confrontations with ICE, surveilling federal law enforcement, and causing significant property damage, impacting local businesses.

Keith Ellison, AG of Minnesota, is one of the politicians adding fuel to an unnecessary fire. He told those attending Twin City protests that he “wanted you to know that I was here with you, fighting with you, standing with you. Keep fighting, stand up strong, don’t back down."

Many are convinced the common denominator is ICE. However, West Virginia recently proved otherwise.

West Virginia Cooperation with ICE

West Virginia Attorney General JB McCuskey took a cooperative approach with ICE and encouraged local police to assist ICE with detainment operations and for West Virginians to support them.

ICE federal agents executed a two-week operation that netted 650 illegal immigrants, all with relative ease. There were no significant reports of chaos, violence, or protester interference or violence against federal agents. It wasn’t the lawless cowboy ICE tactics that Democrat politicians like Ellison suggested.

It was a simple detain and escort ICE operation – that simple.

"I think the most important thing to notice here is that West Virginia and similarly situated states… have made it very, very easy for criminal illegal aliens to be picked up and processed by ICE," McCuskey told Fox News Digital.

Jefferson County Sheriff Thomas Hansen echoed similar remarks.

"The (JCSO) was impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of the agents and how well they interacted with the citizens and local law enforcement officers," he said. “When you contrast that with places like Minnesota, where you have Keith Ellison — who's obviously embroiled in a massive fraud scandal involving Somali immigrants, et cetera, what you see is riots and violence.”

McCuskey pointed out that blame should be placed on Minnesota’s leadership and not the federal law enforcement approach. He added that the immigration statutes are the same for all states and remain the same since the Obama administration.

"All God-fearing Americans believe in immigration. We believe that the promise of this country should be available to those who want to come to America the right way, follow our laws, and become great parts of this incredible quilt that is the American experience," McCuskey said.

McCuskey then cited the hypocrisy and lack of action by Democrats as a “representation of the generalized idiocy of most of the Democrats in Congress, who have sat on their hands for the last 25 years and done nothing about the very immigration laws that they're very angry about being enforced.”

The answer is clear. Let ICE do its job the way it has been for years, and cities will avoid riots, protests, injuries, and news headlines. It’s a win for all.

The liberal community should practice what they preach and “Do your part, stay home.”
