NEW YORK CITY, NY - The invasion at the southern border is now resulting in special needs children at a New York City middle school potentially being forced off their campus.
The potential relocation is being considered due to an increase in illegal alien children coming into the area and parents and students, with the support of some in the community, are pushing back in protest.
West Prep Academy seventh grader Justin Holland spoke to the New York Post, saying “this is a change for me, and I don’t like change. I just don’t like how we’re being pushed into a new environment that’s not safe for me.”
The academy shares the school building with PS 145 and so far, West Prep has been presented with an old schoolhouse that lacks outdoor space as a replacement. Additionally, the New York Post reported that there are not “adequate accommodations” for the school’s disabled children in the proposed new location.
With approximately 43% of West Prep’s student population having special needs, this poses some substantial concerns.
“There’s smoke shops everywhere, and there’s also people outside that are bums, so why keep our kids in the street playing when there’s literally a park right there where they can play basketball and all the sports that they have,” parent Bianca Louch expressed to the New York Post.
FOX News reported that New York City’s Department of Education is facing demands from parents to provide an alternative location that would be able to accommodate the needs of the students, or to just let them stay.
“This building is not equipped to house students with special needs or students that don’t have any special needs – it’s not equipped, it’s 127 years old, Denise Johnson, also a West Prep mother said.
She continued, “the issue is we are coming from a building that is substantial, with all [the] equipment to service their students to a building that lacks resources. This issue for me is the building in itself. It’s not up to par for anyone to go into learning – it looks like a jail. And I don’t think that’s something that our Black and Brown kids should be provided based off of someone else’s decisions. The parents didn’t vote. If it’s a population problem, there’s other options.”
Around 20 parents and students protested the potential relocation outside the school on Tuesday wearing shirts that read “All Students Deserve FAPE(E),” the acronym stands for “free appropriate public equitable education.”
The group could be heard chanting, “Stop the move!”
“We want to make sure that all students are safe, whether it’s in this current building or any building. We don’t want them to just offer us anything, like we are pieces of trash,” Ty Ellis, PTA president at West Prep said.
The official vote will take place on May 22, 2024. Until then, parents and community members will keep protesting and keep pushing to “Stop the displacement of West Prep children.”
The Department of Education, along with West Prep’s principle and vice principle have not commented as of the writing of this article.

Only an imbecile cannot see what the elected Democrats have done to the once beautiful NYC. Today it is full of misfits, criminals, and illegal aliens while American citizens are being pushed and replaced. I would not go there if someone paid me to go, and put me up in a 5-star hotel.
