Massachusetts Congressman Puts Illegal Immigrant Front and Center at SOTU

WASHINGTON, DC- Democrats sure love those illegal aliens. At President Trump’s State of the Union address last month, several Democrats decided to profess their love for those who broke into our country by inviting them to attend the address as their special guests.

One such guest, invited by insane Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton, was possibly subject to an investigation over sexual assault involving minors, according to the Boston Herald.

The outlet submitted a public records request to both the Secretary of State’s Office and the Milford (MA) Police Department, dated June and September 2021, involving Moulton’s new friend, Marcelo Gomes da Silva, who was named as a “person of interest” in two cases.

The requests made of the Milford Police Department were for police reports 21-23101, dated 9/15/2021, and 21-16254, dated 6/30/2021, and were subsequently denied by Deputy Chief John Sanchioni, who claimed that the police report from June 2021 “Involves a sexual assault and juveniles” and the September 2021 report “involves juveniles.” He refused, however, to elaborate.

“The records you are requesting are not public records in accordance with M.G.L. c. 4 s. 7 cl. 26 (A). Report 21-23101-OF involves a sexual assault and juveniles. Report 21-16254-OF involves juveniles,” Sanchioni wrote without elaborating.

Gomes da Silva attended the State of the Union address on Feb. 24 as Moulton’s “special” guest, which he proudly publicized. Moulton claimed on social media that he had to “hide” the sexual assault suspect in his office after the speech due to social media posts about him posted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Herald reported.

A Moulton spokesperson told CBS News that Gomes da Silva was escorted out of the House gallery “out of an abundance of caution” due to DHS allegedly “targeting and harassing Marcelo.”

After the address, the Trump Derangement Syndrome-infested Moulton told MS-NOW that Gomes was a “great American,” a “patriot,” and “a reminder of what courage looks like.” It’s pretty certain that true “patriots,” such as those currently engaged in the Iran conflict, might be a bit put off by Moulton’s definition of “great Americans,” what a “patriot” is, and “what courage looks like.”

Sneaking into the country illegally certainly is not courageous, only illegal.

“We all know Marcelo because of his tragic immigration story where he was thrown in a detention facility for days on end, sleeping on a concrete floor and not even given a Bible…and yet throughout that time he insisted on helping others, [was] more focused on translating for other detainees, and helping them contact their families than even his own safety,” Moulton said, likely holding back crocodile tears in the process.

“He wanted to come here and confront not just Donald Trump at the State of the Union, but his MAGA Republican enablers, who are my colleagues here in the House of Representatives, and he did that. He put a human face on this immigration tragedy, and what I think so many colleagues saw is not just an immigrant, but a great American, a great young American, an amazing patriot, someone whose courage we should all emulate in these challenging times,” Moulton continued.

What a dimwit.

After the show at the US Capitol, Gomes da Silva made his way to Boston, where he testified in support of a proposed bill to ban ICE agents from making civil immigration arrests in state courthouses and on other state-owned property, the Herald reported.

The bill would also ban Massachusetts sheriff’s departments from agreeing to any new 287(g) agreements in the Bay State. Those agreements, between law enforcement agencies and ICE, say those agencies agree to cooperate with the agency in immigration enforcement.

Gomes da Silva told Massachusetts lawmakers that kids in the community are going to build up resentment not towards ICE but towards anyone believed to be working with them.

“We should note that a lot of people are really nervous and scared about police officers, and a lot of people don’t want to go off to work. I think it’s important for our community to go out and be able to build a better economy and work,” Gomes said during testimony before the House Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security on the so-called “Protect Act.”

Gomes da Silva was held for a week at ICE Boston’s facility in Burlington in May after being detained while driving his father’s car. ICE was searching for his father, a habitual traffic offender via speeding violations, on behalf of local law enforcement when he was taken into custody.

Moulton and da Silva have claimed without evidence that he was treated “inhumanely” during his detention and was “denied basic necessities, including access to a shower and a bed to sleep on.”

After conducting an “oversight” tour of the facility in December, Moulton said that “The abuses of ICE need to be prosecuted. Not just defunded–prosecuted. They need to be held accountable to the law that they claim to enforce.”

ICE Boston denies Moulton’s and da Silva’s claims, calling them a lie.

In response to Moulton’s diatribe, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons responded, calling his words “disgusting” and “pure political theater.” If there is one thing Moulton is good at, it’s putting on a good act for the cameras.

Gomes da Silva is in the United States illegally, having overstayed a student visa, which he claims he was “unaware” of. He was eventually released from custody on a $2000 bond after a judge determined he wasn’t a danger to the public.

Massachusetts politicians treated da Silva as a rock star following his release, with inept Gov. Maura Healey inviting him to tour her office.

Gomes da Silva responded to the Herald’s request for his criminal records through his lawyer and spoke in typical lawyerese.

“I would like to respond to the Boston Herald’s irresponsible and outrageous reporting. I want to be clear: I have never assaulted anyone. I have never been contacted by the police about any accusations of assault,” Moulton’s hero said.

“I only learned about these reports that allegedly include my name in them through the media. I have never seen these alleged reports. My attorney has since requested these alleged reports and was denied.”

A spokesman for Moulton told the Herald, “According to our review, Marcelo has never been charged with a crime.” Key word–charged.

The Herald has appealed the denial of records from the Milford Police and the Milford juvenile court, alleging that Moulton has attempted to politicize the teenager’s story into public debate on immigration enforcement by ICE.
