Murder suspect who killed someone after being asked to pick up his trash fatally shot by police

ANAHEIM, CA - Authorities with the Anaheim Police Department (APD) have announced that an officer-involved shooting has led to the death of an 18-year-year wanted for murder in Iowa.

According to ABC 7, the incident happened on Friday, August 9th, around 1:30 p.m. in an industrial park on N. State College Boulevard and the 91 Freeway. APD said that officers were there to assist a U.S. Marshal's Task Force that consisted of several agencies, including the California Department of Corrections and the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.

The suspect, since identified as Victor Delgadillo, was wanted for a murder in Marshalltown, which is located about 50 miles northeast of Des Moines, Iowa. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police said that a bystander was also struck by gunfire, but was not seriously injured. That individual was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released shortly after.

One witness, who was at work at the time of the officer-involved shooting, told reporters that he heard between 15 to 20 gunshots. The man, Donovan Jimenez said, "I was eating lunch when I heard what sounded like a string of firecrackers going off. When I turned, I saw the officers basically firing at the suspect. We all kind of hurried to the door to see what was going on. I didn't hear [officers] before yell for the guy to put his hands up or stop. Afterwards, they did. From there, we kind of saw the whole medical team come."

According to reports, Delgadillo is wanted for first-degree murder as a result of the shooting that left 41-year-old Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves dead. The incident took place on June 1st, at the Center Street Station bar in Marshalltown. KCCI reported that a criminal complaint alleges that Delgadillo threw a cup on the ground at the bar and was confronted by another person to pick it up.

An argument began and Delgadillo pushed two people. Then he allegedly showed a firearm and fired off multiple shots at Nieves. After the incident, the victim's brother, Ramon Feliciano Nieves said that police should already have Delgadillo in custody. He said, "I know that law enforcement, they will get him, and I got faith in them. But they could have done the job earlier. They could have caught this guy already."

As of this writing, it remains unclear as to what exactly prompted the officer-involved shooting of Delgadillo. However, according to the Times Republican, Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper said in a statement, "Our investigation is continuing. I want to make that very clear. It appears that Mr. Delgadillo has been located. We're waiting on some confirmation from medical personnel. It's unfortunate that this happened. None of this needed to happen."

He added, "It's a tragedy for our community. I'm thankful that law enforcement officers are safe, but there are still more individuals who we believe assisted Mr. Delgadillo, and they should be held accountable."
