For anyone paying attention, the events unfolding in the Middle East are hardly a “temporary” skirmish between Israel and Hamas. Despite the fact Israel has thus far held off on embarking on a ground campaign into the Gaza Strip, this is not good.
Michael Snyder, writing on Substack as reported in the Washington Standard, argues that this is indeed the final conflict between Israel and Hamas. More ominously, Snyder writes, the current conflict is likely to “spark a much wider war.”
Israel has no choice but to respond with overwhelming force. As stories and videos emanated from Gaza, it became clear that Hamas has violated every tenet of the rules of war and the Geneva Convention.
Videos of entire families gunned down in their homes, children and babies who had been beheaded, and women bleeding from their groin areas after being raped are simply too much to ignore.
Snyder notes if the script were changed and it was American women who were raped and American babies “ruthlessly slaughtered,” Americans would feel the same way that most Israelis have felt in the past week.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held nothing back, saying that “every member of Hamas is a dead man” while letting it be known that the only way to carry out that threat was to “go into Gaza and kill them.”
Announcing the formation of a unity governemnt in a late-night TV appearance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to keep fighting Hamas. "Every member of Hamas is a dead man," he said.
Netanyahu also detailed some of the atrocities that took place during the Hamas attack. He said boys and girls were shot in the head and that people had been burned alive.
Israel has also threatened to destroy Damascus, which would result in Syria getting involved in the war. As is apparent, this conflict inside Israel could rapidly escalate to a full-blown Middle East war. Israel has already conducted air strikes inside Syria, with the IDF bombing airports in Damascus and Aleppo…
But it seems Israel is indeed holding the Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad responsible, as on Thursday, the IDF has struck back against Syrian targets. Syrian state television is now confirming that Israel has launched attacks on the country’s two main international airports, in the capital of Damascus and Aleppo in the north. It happened while an Iranian plane was inbound.
Should the United States get involved in attacking Hezbollah positions in Syria and Iraq, Snyder warns, American troops in the region would then be fair game. It should be noted the U.S. maintains a military presence in both countries.
The horse, however, may have already left the barn. During Blinken’s visit to Israel, Netanyahu showed him graphic pictures of babies burned to death. In addressing the photos, a Netanyahu spokesman said he shared “horrifying photos of babies murdered and burned by the Hamas monster,” adding, “Hamas is inhuman; Hamas is ISIS.”
In a separate press conference, Israeli President Isaac Herzog shared reports he received from investigators, which included the fact that some of those murdered by Hamas showed “signs of torture.”
Furthermore, reporters from the Jerusalem Post have reported that Hamas had beheaded babies at the Kfar Aza kibbutz.
The Kfar Aza kibbutz was one of the first Israeli settlements to be targeted on Saturday morning by Hamas. It was here that the terrorists, wielding assault rifles and grenades, ruthlessly shot dead screaming families as they begged for their lives before setting fire to their homes.
In one of the most egregious acts by Hamas terrorists, one woman had her unborn child “sliced from her womb.”
A rescue team who visited the kibbutz, where the smell of rotting bodies still hangs in the air, told how they saw a pregnant lady lying on the floor of the first house they walked into. When they turned her over, they saw that her unborn baby had been sliced from her womb.
They further reported that the unborn baby, which was still connected to its umbilical cord, “was stabbed with a knife. And the mother was shot in the head. And you use your imagination, trying to figure out what came first.”
The picture painted by that last incident is undoubtedly too much to bear for the Israeli people, as it is for anyone with an ounce of humanity. The Israeli people, Snyder wrote, “are filled with fury.”
The results will be anyone’s guess, but this will likely be the match that sets the Middle East on fire. Hamas poured the gasoline…will Israel light the match? It sure looks that way. And who can blame them?

For his part, Joe Biden condemned Hamas's attack on Israel last week, calling it the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.
“This attack was a campaign of pure cruelty—not just hate, but pure cruelty—against the Jewish people,” Biden told Jewish leaders gathered at the White House.
Despite efforts by Saudi Arabia to quell the situation, that doesn’t seem to have worked thus far. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed that despite the atrocities committed against its people, Israel needed to cease attacking the Gaza Strip. He further stressed the kingdom’s support for the Palestinian cause, although not the attack by Hamas.
As long as the current war (it’s not a “conflict”) remains between Israel and Hamas, that’s bad enough. However, the Wall Street Journal reported that Hezbollah, which is more lethal than Hamas, has threatened to open a second front if Israel does move into Gaza.
If Hezbollah—which is designated a terrorist group by the U.S. and is closely linked to Iran—enters the conflict in a more concerted way, it would stretch Israel’s army and strain the country’s air defenses, given Hezbollah’s arsenal of missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv.
Hezbollah has privately warned Israel that it is prepared to open a second front if Israeli forces launch a ground assault in Gaza, according to Arab officials and diplomats. But whether Hezbollah follows through with the threat is a central topic of debate for Israeli leaders.

If Hezbollah does indeed enter the fray, it is also possible that Iran—flush with a six billion dollar infusion of ransom cash from the U.S.—could also start acting up. Iran was thought months ago to be close to weaponizing Uranium, again aided by Biden administration policies. If a rogue nation like Iran could acquire nuclear weapons, especially given their mission to destroy Israel and the United States, that would take things to an extremely dangerous level.
The Biden administration, which hasn’t shown a knack for being too aware, is dismissing Hezbollah’s threats and believes them to be bluffing. However, some don’t think they are bluffing.
If Hezbollah decides to enter the war, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant pledged Israel would “return Lebanon to the Stone Age”…
Israeli leaders are trying to deter Hezbollah from joining the fight. “Do not make a mistake,” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said while visiting troops in northern Israel on Tuesday. “If God forbid, an escalation or confrontation erupts here, we will return Lebanon to the Stone Age.”

Both airports were rendered out of commission due to the strikes, which took runways out at both. While this isn’t the first time Israel has bombed the airports, this is the first time both were hit in a simultaneous operation. According to an Israeli army spokesman, the two airports were bombed “in response to the firing of mortar shells from Syria.”
The Wall Street Journal also had an ominous warning, reporting that if Hezbollah “launches a major attack,” the United States will defend Israel.
The U.S. has warned Hezbollah and Iran that it will defend Israel if the Lebanese militant group launches a major attack. Israel’s defense minister vowed to send Lebanon back to “the Stone Age” if Hezbollah attacked. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel, where he said the U.S. had sent an aircraft carrier to the region to deter Hezbollah from entering the fight.
“We’re on the sword’s edge,” said one former Israeli defense official. “Brinkmanship is a dangerous way of life.”
