LAS VEGAS, NV - An alleged Las Vegas love triangle between Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41, his ex-wife, and her new girlfriend ended with a brazen murder spawned by jealousy and rage on January 3 when Las Vegas Metro Police (LVMP) officers found the suspect near two vehicles stopped in the middle of the road with one woman shot fatally and the other badly wounded.
According to a press release from the LVMPD posted to X, at approximately 4:45 p.m. a man later identified as the suspect contacted 911 dispatchers and told them he had shot someone. Officers arrived to find Rodriguez-Guillen with the two women and learned that the man had approached the two women and opened fire striking both and killing one. He then called the police.
As reported by The New York Post, Rodriguez-Guillen was divorced from his wife but the two continued to cohabitate and his wife was seeing her on-again, off-again girlfriend, 40-year-old Adriana Herrera. The suspect’s wife allegedly told him they were through last week and the spurned man responded by boxing in their vehicle, arming himself with a rifle, and fatally shooting Herrera, unintentionally striking his ex-wife.
The outlet reported that Rodriguez-Guillen had hidden his vehicle behind a nearby neighbor’s truck so the couple wouldn’t spot his approach. When the two arrived he intercepted the Hyundai trying to prevent their escape. Herrera successfully evaded him at first only for Rodriguez-Guillen to give chase, cutting them off when they stopped in traffic and approaching the car with his rifle.
The suspect reportedly approached the car door as Herrera exited to confront him. He then fired three rounds, mortally wounding her. When his ex-wife clutched her fallen girlfriend Rodriguez-Guillen shot her in the face according to 8 New Now. He then produced a pistol and appeared to be about to shoot himself, when he realized his ex-wife had been struck in the hip by one of his shots.
He reportedly apologized to her and summoned police, telling them he’d shot someone.
Herrera was pronounced dead on the scene according to the outlet. Rodriguez-Guillen’s ex-wife was transported to an area hospital, where she told police she didn’t think her ex-husband planned to shoot her. She explained that her ex “did not take the breakup well,” and told police that he would threaten both her and Herrera verbally and via text message telling them he “was going to kill them and send them to hell,” 8 News Now reported.
The victim described her ex-husband as “very jealous and controlling,” and according to the police report had placed trackers on their vehicles in the past.
The suspect was arrested, booked into Clark County Detention Center and denied bail 3 News reported. Rodriguez-Guillen is facing several charges, including open murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, kidnapping in the 1st degree resulting in substantial bodily harm with a deadly weapon, kidnapping in the 1st degree with a deadly weapon, burglary while in possession of a firearm, and eight counts of discharging a gun at/into an occupied structure or vehicle.
