WASHINGTON, DC- Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) was shown the door earlier this year by Wyoming voters in the Republican primary by an overwhelming margin. However, Cheney still has a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, and now she’s claiming that any attempt by the incoming Trump Justice Department to investigate the now-defunct January 6 inquisition squad will be met with “sanctions,” RedState reports. On NBC’s Meet the [De]Press[ed] this past week, President-elect Trump intimated that Cheney and the January 6 committee had destroyed evidence in the case. In the interview with NBC News left-wing hack Kristen Welker, Trump said: “Cheney did something that’s inexcusable, along with [Rep. Benny] Thompson and the people on the un-select committee of political thugs and, you know, creeps.” Trump said. They deleted and destroyed all evidence.” That set the unhinged Cheney off, claiming that President-elect Trump committed the “worst breach of our Constitution by any president in our nation’s history.” That is called deflection. She continued: “Here is the truth: Donald Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election and seize power,” Chency said in a statement. “He mobilized an angry mob and sent them to the United States Capitol, where they attacked police officers, invaded the building, and halted the official counting of electoral votes. Trump watched on television as police officers were brutally beaten and the Capitol was assaulted, refusing for hours to tell the mob to leave. “This was the worst breach of our Constitution by any president in our nation’s history. Donald Trump’s suggestion that members of Congress who later investigated his illegal and unconstitutional actions should be jailed is a continuation of his assault on the rule of law and the foundations of our republic.” In her rant, Cheney ignored a few facts. First, President Trump, in questioning the 2020 election, did what Democrats have been doing for years. In 2000, 2004, and 2016, Democrats took to the floor of the Capitol in an attempt to contest the electors from several states. This is a long-standing practice that goes back decades, if not longer. In 1960, electors from the state of Hawaii submitted an alternate set of electors for President John F. Kennedy, which were accepted and helped Kennedy secure the presidency. What Trump and the Republicans were doing in 2020 was not unprecedented. Furthermore, when President Trump gave a speech on the ellipse before the electron certification in Congress, he told attendees at the rally to “peacefully and patriotically march to the Capitol and make your voices heard.” When Trump said those words, the breach at the Capitol was already in progress. Then, there is the issue of missing evidence. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, told Fox News in August that the “select” committee “did not adequately preserve documents, data, and video depositions–including communications it had with President Biden’s administration–and failed to provide any evidence that it looked into Capitol Hill security failures on the day of the ‘insurrection,’” the Los Angeles Times reported. Cheney also lied when she said that Trump had not requested 10,000 National Guard troops, according to The Federalist, which obtained a transcript whereby then-Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Arnato testified under oath that he heard Trump’s then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows make the request. That evidence was suppressed by Cheney and the “select” committee. In fact, Cheney attended and personally participated in that interview. That testimony was finally revealed in March 2024 and was corroborated a month later by three National Guard whistleblowers. None of that matters to Cheney, who still has a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. She then made her unhinged threat against the incoming Trump administration: “Donald Trump knows his claims about the select committee are ridiculous and false, as has been detailed extensively, including by Chairman Thompson [another TDS sufferer],” Cheney said. “There is no conceivable appropriate factual or constitutional basis for what Donald Trump is suggesting–a Justice Department investigation of the work of a congressional committee–and any lawyer to attempts to pursue that course would quickly find themselves engaged in a sanctionable conduct.” As RedState notes, it is unknown on what basis Cheney claims any such investigation would be “sanctionable.” It would seem that if a congressional committee deliberately lied or withheld evidence, that would be illegal and subject to criminal prosecution. For someone who continually bloviates about the “rule of law,” Cheney apparently thinks that only applies to others and not to herself. Hopefully, Cheney will take her act somewhere else and fade into obscurity where she belongs.

Hey Liz if you did nothing wrong why are you so worried about them investigating you? Liz people don't like you, I thought you would have understood that when they voted you OUT! I think there is a lot to investigate regarding the Jan 6th committee and I hope they do it, what you did was wrong and you know it. Trump is in no way afraid of you, you're pathetic.
