How a Night of Bloody Horror Ended With a Suspect Calling Police on Himself

ISLAND PARK, NY- Add two more victims to the death count caused by illegal aliens, with a mother of three and another woman butchered in separate attacks being the latest victims.

On Friday at around 12:30 am, Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, 22, a native of El Salvador, knifed the other of three, a 42-year-old coworker, to death at an Island Park Wendy’s, police said, according to The New York Post.

The victim was identified as Ana Maria de Aguila Cordova, a mother of three from Long Beach, NY, who was taking out trash at the restaurant when she was attacked without provocation in what authorities are calling an ambush, CBS News reported.

The savage murder shocked coworkers, with an unidentified female telling The Post, “I can’t stop crying,” as she pointed to the spot on the sidewalk where the murder occurred, still showing the bloodstains shed by the victim.

Only three hours earlier, Rivera hacked his 32-year-old roommate to death at the apartment they shared at Valley Stream apartments, Nassau County police said. The victim was identified as Eddy Raquel Hernandez Castillo.

After killing his roommate, he went to the Wendy’s, where he worked, and killed de Aguila, police said. Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso.

After killing de Aguila, Rivera called the police and told them what he had done.

“While we were at the [Wendy’s] scene, we received information that an individual was stopped at 169 Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook,’ Det. Lt. George Durienzo said.

“He asked to see [the] police, and when [the] police arrived, he said he killed somebody that night,’ he said.

“This didn’t have to happen,” said Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman at a press briefing. “This is just an example of what happens when you have open borders.”

Rivera crossed into the United States illegally as an unaccompanied minor in 2016.

“Why are we letting an unaccompanied minor into our country to run around, basically without any supervision whatsoever?” Blakeman asked rhetorically. “And then that individual grows up and automatically gets legal status in our country. This is a policy today that resulted in two women getting killed.”

A GoFundMe set up for de Aguila’s family painted her as the married mother of two, one eight and the other two. She also had a 22-year-old son in Peru.

“To those who knew Ana Maria, she will be remembered and cherished as a vibrant spirit,” the page said.

“With her unwavering enthusiasm and love, she gained the admiration from her colleagues, friends, and family alike. This is thanks to a blend of warmth, dedication, and unwavering work ethic that she gave out to the world.”

Durianzo told reporters that police responded to a 911 call at the Wendy’s in North Long Beach on reports of a man with a knife. Responding officers found the victim’s body in front of the restaurant. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

While there, police were notified of a deceased woman in Valley Stream.

“They live in the same household, so they rent bedrooms at that location, and there’s general spaces throughout the house that they share–living room, kitchen, bathroom,” Durianzo said, referring to Rivera and Castillo.

“So they cohabitate, they’re acquaintances of one another,” he said. “As far as a relationship, I’m not aware of a specific domestic relationship between these two.”

Rivera was arrested outside a 7-Eleven in Lynbrook after self-reporting the murder. Police do not have a motive. They said they don’t believe Rivera had prior arrests or any gang affiliations. He has been charged with first-and second-degree murder, police said.

Blakeman, who is seeking the Republican nod to run against New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) in November, has been a longtime critic of the state’s sanctuary status. He has hailed Nassau County’s landmark agreement to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as successfully deporting over 2,000 illegal aliens with serious criminal records.

“I don’t know what the criminality would be here and throughout this region if those 2,000 individuals were still roaming around,” Blakeman said.

“We cannot go back to the failed policies that have created this environment."
