Louisiana Man Bludgeoned His Own Mom Before Stuffing Her In Trash Can, Cops Say

OPELOUSAS, LA - Authorities with the Opelousas Police Department (OPD) said that a man has been arrested for killing his mother and leaving her body in a trash can after confessing to injecting her with methamphetamine and beating her to death.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Aaron Lloyd, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail after investigators with the OPD questioned him about the death of his mother, 65-year-old Lisa Lloyd, WLBT3 reported.

Police said that neighbors on Park Circle in Opelousas found Lisa Lloyd's body in a trash can on Sunday, June 22nd, and reported it to authorities.

"A male subject had admitted to killing his mother and placing her body in a trash can at the location," police announced on Facebook.

Police said they located Aaron Lloyd at another residence and took him to the police department for questioning.

He was taken into custody without incident after reportedly admitting to police that he injected Lisa Lloyd with methamphetamine before beating her to death, according to Law & Crime.

The garbage can and the body were found underneath the carport of Lisa Lloyd's home on Park Circle. A motive for the alleged killing has yet to be provided by police.

Lloyd was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

He has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated second-degree battery, obstruction of justice, failure to seek assistance, and distribution of schedule II drugs.

As of Tuesday afternoon, June 24th, OPD confirmed that Lloyd is still in custody and has not yet had a bail set. OPD Chief Graig LeBlanc called the case "deeply tragic."

"We ask that everyone keep the Lloyd family lifted in prayer during this incredibly difficult time," LeBlanc said in a statement. Neighbors reported a foul smell coming from the home, leading to the discovery of Lisa Lloyd's body. This marks the fourth murder of the year in Opelousas, NEWS15 reported.

"We really, right now, ask for prayers for the family. This is a tragic situation that has now fallen on our community. This is literally a son and a mother and we ask for prayers at this time for the Lloyd family," Joe Anderson with OPD said in a statement.

OPD said that further arrests could be made as the investigation continues.
