Man assaulted by nearly 30 teenagers on bikes in Democrat-run Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA - Authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced that a man was brutally attacked in the Carthay neighborhood by a large group of teenagers on bikes.

According to Fox News, the incident happened around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22nd. Officers responded to the area of San Vincente Boulevard and Carrillo Drive after a report of an assault. Upon arriving on scene, witnesses told police that an argument had broken out between the man and a group of about 20 to 30 suspects, all believed to be between the ages of 16 and 18.

Police said that a couple of the suspects struck and kicked the man's vehicle before he exited it to confront them. A physical altercation ensued, leading to more suspects joining in on the fight. The LAPD said that the large group of suspects "immediately overwhelmed" the man. They continued to punch and kick the man, even after he had been knocked down to the ground.

Some witnesses attempted to intervene and that's when the suspects fled the area on their bicycles and headed southbound on Carillo Drive. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene tend to then victim. He sustained minor visible injuries and declined to be transported to the hospital. Police are still searching for the suspects and are asking the public for assistance in locating those responsible for the attack.

According to the New York Post, a woman close to the victim's family described how badly the suspects beat the man. Natasha Espinal said, "One eye was closed, he had a black eye. The jaw was swollen; he did not look good at all, which is really, really said. It should not happen. It's extremely sad for everyone to see. It's scary."

Espinal said that she and the victim's mother have been contacting neighbors in the area to see if they can identify or have any information on the teens involved. Los Angeles Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, who represents District 5 of the city where the attack happened, said that "violence has no place in our city."

She said in a statement, "I know that this incident has shaken many in our community, and I want to reassure you that we take these concerns very seriously. Violence has no place in our city, and those responsible must be held accountable. My heart goes out to the young man who was assaulted and his family, and I'm relieved to hear that he is recovering."

The councilwoman said that the LAPD is "actively investigating" the incident and that investigators have found no indication that this "was a hate crime," but noted that "any act of violence like this is unacceptable." The LAPD said that anyone with any information about the incident is urged to call Wilshire Area's Detective Carlos, Serial No. 41244 at 213-922-8229.
