According to reports, an elderly man who was turning 101 called the police so that he wouldn't have to be alone on his birthday.

After fearing that he would soon die, the man, 101-year-old Frank Williams sat at his dinner table staring at the cake he had bought from his neighborhood bakery. At that moment in time, Frank didn't have anyone sitting beside him to greet him on his birthday or celebrate with him, but when he woke up that morning, he decided to celebrate his birthday cheerfully and without complaint.

However, within a few minutes of getting ready for the day, he was overcome by a sense of loneliness and began to worry that he wouldn't be around for his next birthday.

Sadly, all of his friends have already passed away and his neighbors were too busy with their own lives to celebrate with him.

Somewhat defeated, Frank got up from the table and went to his kitchen cabinet to get a set of candles, thinking that he would blow them out and cut the cake all alone. Then, he gazed down at his phone and had an idea. Unsure of his idea, he proceeded to call 911.

The dispatcher asked: "911, what's your emergency?"

In that moment, Frank hesitated and then finally said: "Ugh, well, my name is Frank Williams, and I'm 101 years old..."

The male dispatcher asked further: "Alright, sir. How can we help you?"

Frank responded by saying: "I, I am alone today, and I don't want to be alone right now, you see."

The dispatcher said: "Are you in any danger, sir? We have your location and we can dispatch a unit right away. Can you tell us more about the nature of your problem?"

Frank said, finally: "It's my birthday and I'd like to celebrate it with someone. I realize it's not a genuine emergency, but I couldn't think of anyone else to call. I beg you. Please help me!"

The phone went silent and all Frank could hear was some faint whispers.

The dispatcher came back and said: "Okay, sir, I am connecting you to one of our responders. The unit is on its way. Please stay calm."

The male dispatcher got off the phone and then a female voice appeared on the other end of the line. The woman, identified as Officer Woods, said: "Don't be concerned, sir. This is Officer Woods. We got our address and my colleague and I will be there right now."

Frank started to say, "The thing is...," but then the phone went silent as his batter died and the call was disconnected. Fearing that something had happened, the officers decided to go to his address as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Frank waited and wondered if the officers would actually come and if they would really stay with him for his birthday, once they realize it was not a true emergency.

Being alone on his 101st birthday could pass off as a danger for him because he feared that he would not live for much longer, but would the officers think the same is the question that kept going through his mind. A few minutes later, Frank's doorbell rang. He trudged to the door, leaning on his can for support and when he got closer, he saw two officers waiting on his porch.

After opening the door, the officer said: "My name is Reese Woods and this is my partner, Officer Simon Caldwell. We got a call a while ago. Are you all right?"

Frank nodded and said: "You see, I really wanted to celebrate my birthday, and I ended up calling the police. My daughter was once in the police force, too, and she lost her life while saving someone's child." He continued: "I know this line of service comes with its flaws, but my daughter used to tell me the police always protect and serve the citizen. I'm hoping you'll stay for my cake cutting..."

As Frank finished what he was saying, Officer Caldwell scowled and said: "I told you this was a bad idea, Reese! Do we really have to stay for this thing. We've got better things to do!"

Officer Woods didn't listen to Caldwell, and said to Frank: "Sure, sir. I would live to And yes, you were right to call us. We protect and serve our citizens, which definitely includes celebrating a senior citizen's birthday. May we come in?"

Smiling through his tears, Frank said: "Oh, please, please do." Frank took both officers through the living room to the dining table, where he finally blew out the candles on his cake and sliced it while the two officers sang the happy birthday song. With tears in his eyes, Frank thanked them and served them generous slices of cake. He requested them to spend a little more time with him as he proceeded to the kitchen to make them some tea. Officer Caldwell, who was still aggravated that they were there, finally gave in and agreed to stay longer with Officer Woods.

Frank said to the officers: "After my daughter died, my wife couldn't bear the grief and left soon too. I've been alone since then. I know Officer Caldwell isn't happy about being here, but I want to thank him ... Thank you so much, officers. Because of you, I got to spend my birthday with someone. Now, I will be at peace if God calls me home anytime soon. Thank you."

Officer Caldwell regretted his behavior and apologized. The two officer wished Frank a happy birthday again before leaving his house. After spending Frank's birthday with him, Reese visited him from time to time with her own children. Her kids enjoyed spending time with Frank as he always shared his daughter's adventurous cop stories with them and spoiled them with treats like pizza. They even started calling Frank, "Grandpa" out of affection. Mia, who is five-years-old, said: "Grandpa Frank is the best, mommy! He tells us stories and gets us yummy food!"

Thanks to Officer Woods' and her kind heart, Frank lived his last years with a lot of happiness. His last birthday, when he turned 102, he spent it with Officer Woods' and her family. Frank left  behind his house to Officer Woods, which she converted into a facility for elderly people.
