WASHINGTON, DC – The 29-year-old California man who pleaded guilty to the 2022 attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh this past April is now reportedly identifying as transgender, according to reports. Court documents related to the individual’s upcoming sentencing revealed the would-be killer’s newly adopted identity, noting he will be referred to with female pronouns “out of respect.”
On April 8th, Nicholas Roske pleaded guilty to his attempt on Justice Kavanaugh’s life, with the aforementioned attempt having occurred back on June 8th, 2022. According to Roske’s plea deal, he admitted to having flown out from Los Angeles to Dulles, Virginia, the day before the attempted assassination, with ammunition and a firearm among his checked baggage. After touching down in Virginia, Roske took a taxi to Montgomery County, Maryland, where he arrived outside the home of Justice Kavanaugh.
U.S. Marshals posted outside of Justice Kavanaugh’s home observed Roske, wearing all-black clothing with a backpack and suitcase in tow, exiting the taxi at approximately 1:00 a.m. on June 8th, 2022, opting to exit their vehicles to monitor Roske as he walked down the street. Shortly thereafter, Roske called 911 and admitted to having suicidal and homicidal ideations, telling the dispatcher he was armed and was planning to murder Justice Kavanaugh.
Roske was taken into custody following his admission to the 911 dispatcher, with authorities finding “a firearm; black tactical chest rig and tactical knife; two magazines, each containing 10 rounds of ammunition; 17 additional rounds of ammunition; pepper spray; zip ties; a hammer; screwdrivers; a nail punch; a crowbar; a pistol light; duct tape; hiking boots with padding on the outside of the soles; and lock-pick tools,” on his person at the time of arrest.
Facing 30 years in prison according to a Justice Department sentencing memorandum recommending such, Roske is now purportedly identifying as a transgender woman, allegedly going by the name “Sophie Roske.” A footnote featured in a court filing related to Roske’s October 3rd sentencing reads, “Out of respect for Ms. Roske, the balance of this pleading and counsel’s in-court argument will refer to her as Sophie and use female pronouns.”
The timing of Roske’s newly adopted identity is of particular note, considering the recent assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, whose alleged killer was seemingly motivated by his ties to radical sects of the transgender community by way of his roommate and apparent significant other, who also happens to be trans-identifying.
