BALTIMORE, MD- What authorities have described as a mass shooting has claimed one life and injured five others, including a 5-year-old girl, in Baltimore, police say.
Fox News Digital reports that a 38-year-old man succumbed to his injuries this morning, turning the case into a homicide investigation.
The incident took place Saturday at approximately 8:46 p.m. Officers responded to Spaulding and Queensberry Ave. on a report of shots fired. On arrival, police found six victims–four males and two females, including a 5-year-old girl who was shot in the hand.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said the child’s injury did not appear to be serious, and she is expected to make a full recovery.
“Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that her injury is serious,” Worley said, according to ABC News.
Authorities told Fox News Digital in a statement that the remaining victims included a 23-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, and a 52-year-old man. Police said the remaining victims “are believed to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Worley said at a news briefing that people were “hanging outside” when a gunman opened fire. Police said the group was gathered to have a “crab feed.”
Police did not say if the shooting was random or if someone was targeted. Thus far, the suspect or suspects remain at large.

As of August 1, the city has seen 84 homicides, a decrease from the first seven months of 2024, Mayor Brandon Scott said.
