CINCINNATI, OH - An office has been killed after authorities said that a man purposely struck him with his vehicle the day after his teen son was fatally shot by police. According to ABC News, 38-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr., has been charged with aggravated murder in the death of the sheriff's deputy, who was killed Friday, May 2nd, while directing traffic near the University of Cincinnati.

Hinton is the father of 18-year-old Ryan Hinton, who was shot and killed by police the day prior. WCPO reported that a Cincinnati police officer fatally shot one of the four men that jumped from a suspected stolen car and ran from police. Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge said that the officer-involved shooting happened on Thursday morning, May 1st.

Following the shooting, the family of Ryan Hinton hired attorneys Michael Wight, Shean Williams, and Robert Gresham of The Cochran Firm as well as Anthony Pierson of Pierson and Pierson, LLC, to conduct an investigation into his death. In a statement, the attorneys said, "Our firm was hired by members of Ryan Hinton's family to conduct an investigation into his shooting death by an officer with the Cincinnati Police Department. We are in the preliminary stages of that investigation."

The day after Ryan Hinton was fatally shot by the officer, his father, Rodney Hinton Jr., purposely drove his vehicle into a Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy, killing him. At a court appearance on Saturday, May 3rd, Hamilton County sheriff's deputies packed the courtroom in support of the fallen deputy.

Prosecuting attorney Ryan Nelson said that Hinton Jr.'s movements in his car on Friday were "calculated and premeditated." He added, "He lined up his car, deliberately accelerated his car and purposely caused the death of an on-duty deputy sheriff."

The attorney representing Hinton Jr., said that his client faces a "very serious, very terrible charge," but noted that he has no felonies on his record. He added, "I understand that this is an emotionally charged situation. I understand that there is a lot of sadness and a lot of anger in this room right now and in the community at large." The attorney was speaking of the deputy's death as well as the death of Hinton Jr.'s son.

The judge ordered Hinton Jr. held without bond in the Clermont County Jail until his next hearing on May 6th. In at statement on Saturday, attorneys representing the Hinton family in the matter of Ryan Hinton's death said that Rodney Hinton Jr., along with other family members, met with Cincinnati police on Friday to view body camera footage of the officer-involved shooting.

They said, "Ryan Hinton's family, including Ryan's father, was present at the meeting and they were understandably distraught as they watched the bodycam video. After meeting with the police department, Ryan Hinton's father left in his own vehicle and that was the last we heard from him until learning about the tragic incident involving a law enforcement officer who was working a traffic detail near the University of Cincinnati."

They added, "This is an unimaginable tragedy for this community. Ryan Hinton's family is heartbroken by this tragic turn of events and we are all devastated for the family of the officer who was killed." According to 10WBNS, Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey said that the deputy's identity has not yet been released to the public. He retired from the department a few months back and was continuing to work off-duty assignments.

McGuffey said, "He was so well-liked and so well-known. What a tremendous loss we have all suffered." Hamilton County prosecutor Connie Pillich said in a statement, "If the facts show this act was intentional, as the charge suggests, I will throw the full force of the law at the perpetrator."
