Maryland Senator Roasted After Trying to Pass Off Criminal Illegal Alien as 'Beloved Mom'

WASHINGTON, DC - You’ve often heard of “the swamp,” that is, the bureaucracy that infests the halls of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Nobody epitomizes “the swamp” more than Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s best pal and drinking buddy, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

You may recall that Abrego Garcia, a confirmed MS-13 gang member who the Trump administration deported, had his criminal history scrubbed by Van Hollen and other gang-banger-supporting liberals and was rebranded simply as “a Maryland dad.” Van Hollen has been played again, according to The Gateway Pundit. 

This past week, Van Hollen again attempted to rebrand an illegal alien being deported by the Trump administration as an innocent victim of an overzealous administration. 

On X, Van Hollen posted the following:

“Melissa Tran came here on a Green Card at age 11. She has since raised four kids, started a business, & is a beloved member of the Hagerstown community. Trump is deporting her, despite a judge saying she poses no threat. Is she the ‘worst of the worst’? Do you feel safer yet?” 

Sounds like a fine, upstanding person, the type who the administration shouldn’t be focusing on, right? Van Hollen even shared a headline from The Baltimore Banner, announcing Tran’s pending deportation back to Vietnam.

Of course, like the good liberal he is, the fine senator left out some pesky details, which Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Tricia McLaughlin was more than happy to point out. 

In a post on X, McLaughlin filled in the details: 

“Omitting some pesky facts, senator. Mong Tuyen Thi Tran (Melissa's birth name) is a criminal illegal alien from Vietnam, with criminal convictions including grand larceny, multiple counts of forgery, and fraud. An immigration judge issued her a final order of removal in 2004–over 20 years ago. ICE arrested her in May.” 

Van Hollen was widely panned in April when he traveled to an El Salvador prison to visit Abrego Garcia, who was later returned to the United States to face charges involving human trafficking. Democrats painted the conditions at the El Salvador prison as being squalid and inhumane; however, Images of the meeting posted to X showed the esteemed senator sipping margaritas with the confirmed MS-13 gang member in what appeared to be a lush outside patio. 

It is unknown who on Van Hollen’s staff is providing him with sob stories of illegal aliens being sent packing by the Trump administration. Still, they need to do a better job vetting the “innocent” illegals Van Hollen is attempting to defend. He isn’t looking too bright these days.
