Michigan Doctor Who Secretly Filmed Women and Children Learns His Fate

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI - A former doctor in the state of Michigan was sentenced to 35-60 years in prison on 31 counts of sexual misconduct, after he secretly recorded his wife, their young children, and female relatives.

The suspect, 41-year-old Oumair Aejaz, was sentenced in Oakland County Sixth Circuit Court on Tuesday, December 2, PEOPLE reported. The former doctor pleaded no contest to all 31 counts of sexual misconduct against him.

He was convicted of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct, four counts of child sexually abusive commercial activity, 13 counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and nine counts of capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person.

"This sentence ensures Oumair Aejaz will never again harm another victim," Prosecuting Attorney Karen D. McDonald said. "However, the damage he inflicted upon his victims will not go away with this resolution. We must continue to support them as they move forward from this trauma."

Aejaz previously treated patients at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, and Henry Ford Hospital Macomb in Clinton Township, Michigan. Authorities began investigating the former medical provider in August 2024, after his wife brought forth evidence that he had been secretly recording her, their two children, who are minors, and several female relatives in their home.

Further investigation found that Aejaz also recorded children and adults at Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills, Michigan, as well as children and adults in hospital rooms and bedrooms using a hidden camera.

"I applaud Judge Anderson's sentencing decision and the prosecutor's efforts to hold this sick individual fully to account," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. "The exploitation of women and children, especially in some cases when he used his trusted position as a physician, is absolutely unconscionable," he added.

"This sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and delivers the justice the victims deserve. I also want to recognize the great work of the detectives and our computer crimes unit for the tireless and successful work in locating evidence to make this sentence possible."

McDonald said that several investigations connected to the case remain ongoing. Three lawsuits filed in October by three different women allege that Aejaz recorded and sexually assaulted them at Henry Ford Hospital, and that nothing was done when they filed complaints with the hospital.

"There is a class action ongoing, but these people felt that their rights were not adequately represented, and they wanted individual claims," Fieger Law Attorney Matthew Piccirilli, who is representing the accusers, said in a statement.

Aejaz is a citizen of India who has been working in the United States on a visa since 2011. He completed his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital before moving to Alabama, MLive reported. He returned to Oakland County in 2018.
