MINNEAPOLIS, MN - We don’t even know where to start with this one, other than to say that Minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara is not only trying to permanently cement himself as the worst police chief in the history of policing, but also an unhinged loony toon fake Catholic who we are willing to bet has never set foot inside a church in his life before last Tuesday.
O’Hara’s latest claim to stupidity came last week when he was attending a press conference with the feckless mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey. O’Hara whined that it was a “very, very difficult time primarily for illegal aliens due to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the Twin Cities area," The New York Post reported.
O’Hara then showed what a theological ignoramus he is with the following tripe:
“It’s especially personal to me, having been raised a Catholic, to be in a Christian church this morning as we are approaching Christmas,” O’Hara said.
“And I cannot help but think of what is happening in our city today and how that echoes with how outsiders have been treated for thousands of years. How Mary and Joseph themselves were considered outsiders and forced to stay in a barn.
“That’s what we’re getting ready to commemorate as Christians around the world, while all of this fear is happening right here in our town.”
Where to begin.
Conservative podcaster Matt Walsh eviscerated O’Hara, which was easy to do.
“When someone says, ‘raised Catholic’, what they mean is that you’re no longer Catholic, you’re not practicing, and you don’t care about your faith. Because anyone who actually is a Catholic, like a practicing Catholic...I would not say I was ‘raised’ Catholic. I would just say I’m Catholic...what you’re telling me almost certainly is that you are an apostate.
“Most of them were raised Catholic, as in, yeah, they were maybe confirmed. And they went to church like five times in their entire childhood; their parents didn't care about it either.
“Because if this guy, Brian O’Hara, actually cared about his faith and had ever read the gospel in his life, which if you’re really a Catholic, then you would think you’d have read the gospel maybe once or twice, or preferably hundreds of times. And if he had, then he would know that he just said the dumbest thing that’s been uttered by an open borders liberal in at least the past 17 minutes. It’s that dumb,” Walsh said.
Indeed, Luke 2:1-20 tells the story of Jesus’ birth. Since O’Hara appears to be unfamiliar, here’s a little Bible lesson:
“In those days, Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.
So, Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem, the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
So no, O’Hara. Mary and Joseph weren’t illegal aliens or even your favorite term, “asylum seekers.” They weren’t visiting Bethlehem uninvited. They weren’t foreign invaders. They returned to Joseph’s hometown to register for the census ordered by Caesar Augustus. And no, they weren’t refused a room because they were in the city illegally...they were refused a room because “there wasn’t any room at the inn.”
Using the Biblical story of the birth of our Savior is a cheap shot meant to make it appear that those who are seeking to send illegals out of the country because they chose to jump to the front of the line, feel guilty or other such nonsense.
Since O’Hara is waxing poetic about the Bible, even though he is completely uninformed, how about another book of the Gospel, Mark 12:17:
“Jesus said to them, ‘Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.’ And they marveled at him.”
Breaking into the country and, in the case of many Somalis in Minnesota, ripping off American taxpayers is an utter violation of Mark 12:17.
How about Romans 13:1-5?
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
“For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right, and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
“Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience."
Entering the country illegally is a crime. The Bible says explicitly governing authorities, aka the Trump administration and those under his command, including ICE, are to be submitted to. And O'Hara is defying God by rebelling against authority ("rebelling against what God has instituted"). If you're going to try to use the Bible, use the whole thing (and get the part you use correct).
As expected (and deserved), O’Hara got roasted online, including by members of the Trump administration.
“In major cities across the country, police chiefs use the phrase ‘our community’ to refer to illegals and foreign trespassers,” White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller wrote on X.
“How abhorrent and humiliating [that] this Minneapolis Police Chief refuses to do his job and has allowed these pedophiles and rapists terrorize Minneapolis and hurt the very people he swore an oath to protect,” Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote.
A White House Spokesperson told Fox News Digital that O’Hara’s comments were “unconscionable.”
“It’s unconscionable that anyone would compare criminal illegal aliens to the Son of God,” Jackson said. “Law enforcement officials should enforce the law, not allow dangerous criminal illegal aliens to terrorize American communities while making absurd comparisons.”
Others weighed in, including conservative activist Riley Gaines:
"Mary and Joseph weren’t illegally in Bethlehem. Hope this helps!” she wrote.
Former NFL star Benjamin Watson wrote, “We have to stop using Mary, Joseph, and Jesus as pawns in a culture war. Let scripture stand on its own merits without manipulating it to fit an unrelated modern narrative. The problem is that most of us don’t read the text.”
Jesse Kelly, a conservative radio host, wrote, “Never let the communists use your values against you. He hates you. He hates your values. They’re just tools to him. Tools he can use for the revolution.”
Senior editor of The Federalist John Daniel Davidson echoed Walsh’s comments about O’Hara being a “fake Catholic,” writing, “’Raised Catholic’ is code for ‘long ago rejected Catholicism and don’t really know anything about it.’ Sadly, this kind of saccharine, brain-dead take on the demands of Christian charity is more or less what our bishops routinely spew.”
At Law Enforcement Today, we’re not sure what is going on with police chiefs in this country, particularly those in major cities. From New Orleans to Cincinnati, Nashville to Providence, Rhode Island, and Washington, DC to Minneapolis, it is becoming clear that an IQ in the triple digits isn’t a requirement to be a police chief in a blue city.
