Inside Minnesota’s Shocking Pardon of Convicted Child Rapist

MINNEAPOLIS, MN- The next time you hear Democrats such as Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) bloviating about doing something “for the kids” while insinuating mean old Republicans don’t do enough to protect them, don’t believe them. A recent decision to pardon an illegal alien convicted of repeatedly raping a child was made because the clemency commission expressed “immigration concerns” in letting this monster walk free, according to Fox News Digital.

The outlet reviewed documents from the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission, which in a 4-2 vote agreed to pardon Tue Lue Vang, a Laotian national following his conviction for criminal sexual conduct. Vang admitted to repeatedly raping a girl when she was only 10 and doing so over several years.

Two members of the board voted against granting the pardon citing the serious nature of Vang’s offenses. The four who didn’t see an issue with Vang repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl over several years, however cited concerns about him being deported as their reason for granting clemency.

One liberal dimwit, commissioner Zach Linstrom, wrote in his pardon recommendation, “Very tough case, but the kids not having a father is not in the best interest of society,” referring to the rapist’s six children. Another commissioner, Artika Roller, who also voted to grant the pardon wrote, “The applicant stated the need for clemency related to immigration issues.”

The Minnesota Board of Pardons, consisting of Walz, far-left Attorney General Keith Ellison and Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson, awarded Vang a full pardon on June 10, wiping his record clean as he was set to be unceremoniously sent back to where he came from.

That decision got the attention of Homeland Security Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis, who called the decision “disgusting.”

“Governor Tim Walz’s decision to pardon an illegal alien convicted child rapist so he can remain in our country is disgusting.

“These are the criminal illegal aliens he and his Minnesota sanctuary politicians are protecting,” she said.

Vang entered the country via California in 1994 and was granted legal status by the Clinton administration. Between 2002 and 2004, Vang, then between 18 and 20 years old, had sexual intercourse with the victim four to six times. The abuse took place in St. Paul, Minnesota, with the first rape taking place when the victim was only in fourth grade.

The young victim “did not understand what Vang was doing, so she let him,” according to documents reviewed by Fox News Digital. Finally, the victim began to tell her friends about the abuse, saying she was “angry and sad” about it, and noted that one time Vang offered her $10 to remain silent about the sexual abuse.

Despite Ramsey County District Court Judge Sara Grewing not taking a position on Veng’s pardon, Assistant County Attorney Tami McConkey recommended against granting it.

McConkey wrote in a formal opposition statement that her office had offered a dispositional departure to Vang because the victim was receiving pressure from her family not to cooperate with law enforcement after his arrest.

Vang was sentenced to 12 years in prison following his conviction, however the sentence was stayed in favor of 30 years of supervised probation, which included a year of local confinement. He ended up serving eight months at the county correctional workhouse and was discharged from probation early in 2019.

McConkey admitted that there were a number of aggravating factors in the case, including the abuse continuing over an extended period of time. One time, he drove her to his home to abuse her, and on occasion did not use any protection.

Fox News Digital received a copy of a criminal complaint against Vang where he told officers that, “I made a mistake, but this is a minor thing. It is a cultural thing in Thailand to marry and have sex with girls as young as 12.” He also said that “Vang stated [the victim] should be arrested also because she was as much at fault.”

McConkey noted that despite Vang admitting “shame and regret” about what happened, “he does not share any thoughts or insight about what the victim must have gone through.”

That didn’t matter to the leftist commissioners on the clemency panel or the Board of Pardons. The fact that the victim 20 years after the fact supported a pardon as one of their reasons for granting a pardon.

“The victim supports the pardon,” Commissioner Nadine Graves wrote. “His [Vang’s] wife stayed and has forgiven. He also [has] immigration concerns. He has remorse and was discharged from probation.”

She also said that Vang wrote that “he retracted his prior statement about this being a result of culture. He admits this was wrong then and will always be wrong.”

Lindstrom also noted that “applicant’s wife supports” and “victim supports” a pardon.

Another commissioner, Perry Moriearty said that Vang “is facing deportation” in his reasons for supporting a pardon.

In his pardon application, Vang wrote, “I carry deep shame and regret for the harm I caused,” noting he was detained by ICE in December and was facing a final order of removal. He said that since he entered the U.S. as a child, deportation would mean he “would be sent to a place entirely unfamiliar to me with no family, no home, and no future.”

“My fear is that if deported, my children will grow up without a father like I did,” and “I will do all that I can to be here and protect them from the outcomes of my deportation.”

Poor baby.

Fortunately, there is a new sheriff in town and his name is President Donald J. Trump, assisted by his “deputy,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio. On Friday, Rubio announced he has terminated Vang’s legal status in the U.S. and that he was enroute back to his home country of Laos.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Rubio said, “Americans should never have to live in fear that foreign sex predators–shielded from deportation by their own elected officials–could endanger them or their children.

“That’s why I terminated his legal status in the United States,” Rubio continued. “Vang has now been removed from our country and will never pose a threat to any American ever again.”
