Nevada Woman’s Chopped Up Corpse Found Stuffed in Cardboard Box in Arizona Desert

KINGMAN, AZ - Authorities are asking for the public's help in solving a case after a woman was found dead inside a "large cardboard box" in a remote area of the desert in Arizona.

In a press release, authorities said that deputies responded to a call regarding a "suspicious package" in a "remote desert area" east of Kingman on September 5, People reported. The press release from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) said that the caller stated he had discovered a "large cardboard box" while surveying his property.

He told dispatch that he believed a "deceased person" was inside of the box. "Detectives were called to the scene and confirmed there was a deceased female subject inside the box," MCSO said. "Fingerprints were taken from the victim and the victim was later identified as 57-year-old Carolyn Ann Bosher, a transient of Las Vegas."

Police said that another person on the scene stated that he had observed a vehicle "with the trunk open the night prior" in the area where the body was discovered.

However, the man said he was unable to identify the vehicle because "it was dark outside," as noted by MCSO.

The sheriff's office said they made contact with their counterparts at the Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) and were told that the victim had been arrested in Las Vegas on charges of indecent exposure the week prior, on August 30. Authorities said there is no indication that the victim was killed at the scene.

Bosher's family said that she had two adult sons with her ex-husband, according to AZFamily. Bosher's sister said she first heard about the incident through the news.

"I'm in disbelief. I don't want to believe that it's here," Suzanne Staton said. The sister said her grief is complicated, as the sister she once knew was stolen by drugs long ago, but now her big sister is gone forever.

"I will really miss certain things about her before the addiction," Staton said. Bosher was known to struggle with mental illness and substance abuse and was never in one place for long. She was in and out of jail and different sober group homes in Las Vegas, but could never get clean. Things got worse after their mother died eight years ago.

Staton was told her sister was found dismembered. "I can't imagine how scared she must have been," said Staton. "I mean no matter who she was or what she did, she didn't deserve to be murdered and yet alone mutilated."

An investigation is ongoing and the MCSO urges anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact their agency at 928-753-0753 and reference DR# 25-033587.
