New Details Emerge for Kentucky Actress Accused of Dismembering, Cooking Her Own Mom

HARRISON COUNTY, KY - A Kentucky actress accused of dismembering her own mother and cooking her body parts, appeared in court earlier this week on several charges, including murder.

It was just over a year ago when police say that Torilena Fields shot, stabbed, and dismembered her mother, 68-year-old Trudy Fields, before placing some of her remains in a boiling pot on the stove, LEX18 reported.

In November of 2024, an attorney for the actress entered a not guilty plea and in July of this year, a doctor with the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center ruled that Fields is competent to stand trial.

However, at the time, the defense said they were waiting on results from their own evaluation. During the pretrial hearing on Monday, family members learned that they would have to wait a few more weeks for the competency hearing.

"The hearing itself would be just a couple of witnesses, the doctors that have worked with Torilena, met with her and assessed her," said Chris Tracy, Bluegrass Regional Manager of the Kentucky Department of Public Safety.

"They would basically just give testimony of their assessment and then their findings, and then the judge hears all of that and then makes a ruling as to her competency to stand trial."

The competency hearing is set for October 27 at 11:00 a.m. Fields has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, torture of a dog or cat, and obstructing governmental operations, according to the state police.

One of Torilena's former Hollywood co-stars said that  the actress "really loved her mother," despite the alleged deadly circumstances, Lawyer Herald reported. Cast member and director Andoni Zorbas recalled Fields was an "angel" on-set and "every director's dream."

"We bonded over our mothers," Zorbas said. "She really loved her mother. On one occasion when we were in the car together, she invited me to taste her mother's cookies." When he heard his former co-star was the prime suspect in her mom's murder, he couldn't believe it.

"I thought it was a prank," he admitted. "I thought someone was joking with me."

But, Fields seemingly lived a double life; a far cry from the Mount Olivet, Kentucky home she allegedly slaughtered her mother at.

"I know she lived in Beverly Hills," said Zorbas. "I know she bought all these expensive clothes to take pictures."

A motive for Fields has not been disclosed and her bond has been set at $1.5 million.
