New York: Previously-Deported El Salvadorian Illegal Alien Savagely Rapes 16-Year-Old Girl

HUNTINGTON, NY - Yet another teenage girl has been victimized by an illegal alien invader allowed into the United States under the administration of Bill Clinton.

News 12 Long Island reports that Antonio Melendez Reyes, an El Salvadoran national, allegedly raped a 16-year-old in an alley as she was walking home. Reyes approached the female on June 6 while she was walking on New York Avenue in Huntington. Reyes asked the victim for her phone number, which she refused to provide.

Reyes then forced her down an alley and sexually assaulted her. She managed to escape while partially clothed, climbed a tall fence, and called 911. While she was speaking to the 911 operator, Reyes continued to pursue and look for her, authorities said.

Officers arrived shortly thereafter and took Reyes into custody. He was indicted on four counts of rape, sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a statement asking New York not to release Reyes after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer against him, the department said in a news release. However, New York is a sanctuary state and has a history of non-compliance with ICE detainers.

dir="ltr">“This monster is charged with rape, sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child after he raped a 16-year-old girl who was walking home,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This sexual predator NEVER should have been in our country and able to prey on this innocent girl. DHS is calling on Governor Kathy Hochul and her fellow sanctuary politicians in New York to commit to not releasing this criminal illegal alien from jail and to turn him over to ICE. New York sanctuary politicians must not release criminals from jail into New York communities.”

Reyes entered the country illegally at an unknown date and location. On July 10, 1998, a Department of Justice (DOJ) Immigration Judge issued Reyes a final order of removal.

DHS noted that as of December 1, 2025, New York’s defiance of federal immigration detainers has resulted in the release of nearly 7,000 criminal illegal aliens since January 20, 2025, or the day President Trump was inaugurated for his second term. These illegals committed crimes including 29 homicides, 2,509 assaults, 199 burglaries, 305 robberies, 392 dangerous drug offenses, 300 weapons offenses, and 207 sexual predatory offenses.

“As of December 1, 2025, 7,113 aliens in the custody of a New York jurisdiction have an active detainer. The crimes of these aliens include 148 homicides, 717 assaults, 134 burglaries, 106 robberies, 235 dangerous drug offenses, 152 weapons offenses, and 260 sexual predatory offenses,” DHS wrote.

News 12 said Reyes is due back in court on July 21, and could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the most serious crime.
