CHICAGO, IL - An illegal immigran described as a "dangerous" man has been placed into custody on suspicion of involvement with the murder of a 17-year-old girl, also in the country illegally.

A source within the Chicago Police Department told reporters that the suspect, identified as Juan Ramirez-Olivo, is believed to have been involved in the death of Stephanie Lopez Ramirez, a girl who was killed by two gunshots to the arm.

According to Fox News police source, Ramirez-Olivo and Lopez Ramirez were in an apartment together at the time the shots were fired. Chicago Police believe that the suspect was illegally in possession of a firearm at the time, and likely purchased the weapon on the street. The background of Ramirez-Olivo has also been called into question, according to the outlet. While Police documents report the suspect claiming to be from Venezuela, a source with ICE has contradicted this with records indicating he is from Colombia.

Fox News' CPD source called the suspect a "liar."

ICE spokesperson Erin Bultje told Fox News, "On Oct. 3, officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago lodged an immigration detainer with Chicago Police Department’s 11th District on Juan David Ramirez-Olivo, 19, a Colombian national, following his arrest for murder in the first degree."

Ramirez-Olivo will remain in the custody of Cook County Jail in Chicago pending local charges."

The outlet reported that Ramirez-Olivo has a prior record with an arrest in March for possession of a knife, he was also previously accused of stabbing someone.

As reported by Univision Chicago Stephanie Ramirez's father Armando told reporters in Spanish, “I never thought something like this would happen to my daughter… they just told me that my daughter had been shot in the arm and that she had died.”

A family friend who spoke to reporters estimated that Ramirez was in the U.S. for approximately two years and was "a very sweet girl who loved her family very much." They described her as "always happy and full of life."
