GREENSBORO, NC - A Greensboro Police officer was reportedly fired from her department and is now sitting in the Alamance County Detention Center after authorities say the woman was involved in a “domestic-related incident” in which she allegedly opened fire on an occupied dwelling earlier in January.

Few details have been shared by officials regarding the January 24 incident that led to the arrest of then-Officer Morgan Lynette Hill under weapons charges allegedly stemming from a domestic incident earlier in the day.

According to investigators, the 25-year-old Greensboro officer had allegedly fired several rounds at an occupied dwelling at approximately 1:30 a.m., although authorities weren’t notified until nearly twelve hours after the alleged incident. Officials have not shared the names of any potential victims in the case, but the domestic designation suggests a connection between Hill and whoever resides at the dwelling.

Authorities say there were no sustained injuries stemming from the alleged incident.

Hill was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center on charges of injury to real property and discharge of a weapon into an occupied property, where she remains in custody without bond pending her next scheduled appearance in court on January 26th.

Given the seriousness of the felony weapons charge Hill is facing, the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) immediately terminated the officer upon notification of her arrest and charges. It’s unclear how long Hill was with the department before her termination, but an Instagram post from the GPD back in August of 2023 highlighted Hill for receiving the “Medical Life Saving Award” regarding her administration of NARCAN to someone suffering from an apparent overdose.

The GPD is also conducting an internal investigation into the matter while the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office continues work on the criminal investigation, with officials confirming that additional charges could be in play regarding the incident.
