HAMILTON COUNTY, OH - A man, who as a teenager was convicted of manslaughter more than a decade ago, has since been sentenced to 32 years to life for a 2024 murder.
The previously-convicted felon, 30-year-old Marques Brown, was found guilty in January of this year of charges including murder in the killing of 30-year-old Devintre Gill, according to The Enquirer. The jury also convicted Brown of being a felon in possession of a gun.
Gill was found inside a Colerain Township home in May 2024 with a gunshot wound to the head. On February 26, 2026, Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Patrick Dinkelacker imposed the three-decade sentence. Brown will not be eligible for parole until he serves 32 years of his 32-year-to-life sentence.
Brown, who was deemed to be a repeat violent offender, was involved in the fatal shooting of a man in 2012 during a robbery, according to court documents. He was 16 at the time, but was prosecuted as an adult. He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the 2012 case and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The earlier killing weighed heavily on how the court viewed Brown's record, Hoodline reported. The punishment gives Brown one of the longer prison terms recent Hamilton County prosecutors have pursued.
