Pennsylvania: Unhinged Ex-Girlfriend Charged with Attempted Murder After Break-Up Stabbing, Claims 'It Was Just a Poke'

UPPER DARBY TOWNSHIP, PA -Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” A Pennsylvania man learned that the hard way when he tried to break up with his somewhat unhinged girlfriend, Law & Crime reports.

On July 9, the victim, who was not identified, told his now-ex-girlfriend to “get the f*ck out of my life,” police said. She responded by stabbing him in the chest and abdomen, authorities said, although she told police that she only “poked” him with the knife.

The victim told police “she’s crazy” while describing his girlfriend, Jessica Eustache, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by NBC affiliate WCAU. “I told her to get the f*ck out of my life. She’s running around with a knife. I told her to get the f*ck out of here, and she started stabbing me.”

Police said Eustache attacked the man at his Upper Darby Township home on July 9. The victim told officers that Eustache had been living with him and he was trying to kick her out when things “escalated” and nearly turned deadly, the complaint read.

Eustache admitted to police that she was arguing with the victim while holding a knife and that she merely “poked” him with it.

“The mere fact that she gave her self-serving statement that it was a ‘poke’ doesn’t erase the fact that she could have killed this male,” Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt told WCAU. “There’s no misunderstanding. It’s no mistake. This was a violent domestic attack.”

Officers responded to the home after receiving a report of a stabbing. On arrival, officers found the victim with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, while Eustache was screaming while standing outside. Meanwhile, the victim was inside the home with a rag trying to stop the bleeding.

The victim said he attempted to take the knife away from the crazed woman, but then she started stabbing him. The couple had been dating for eight years when the victim apparently had enough and tried to terminate the relationship.

Court records show that Eustache has a criminal past, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and harassment. She’s been charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of an instrument of crime. She is being held on $1 million bond and is scheduled for a preliminary court appearance on July 23.

“There had been multiple incidents with the two of them in the past where, if one or the other would have left, maybe we would not be here today talking about this,” Bernhardt told WCAU. “It didn’t have to occur.”
