Previously deported Brazilian woman arrested in MA for child rape and assault

FALMOUTH, MA - On Monday, April 14th, federal authorities announced that a Brazilian woman who was in the United States illegally, has been charged with sex crimes against a Massachusetts child. The woman, identified as 53-year-old Ilma Leandro De Oliveria, is now in federal custody after being arrested in Falmouth on March 20th.

According to Fox News, the illegal immigrant was arrested by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). De Oliveria was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents on September 20, 2007, after she illegally entered the U.S. near Laredo, Texas.

She was served with a notice and order of expedited removal and was deported on December 27, 2007. ICE said she illegally re-entered the U.S. at an unknown date and location. On March 18th, she was arraigned in a Falmouth court on charges of rape of a child, reckless endangerment of a child, indecent exposure, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, unnatural acts with a child, aggravated statutory rape of a child, and incest.

She was handed over to the U.S. Marshals Services and will be prosecuted for illegal entry into the U.S. after being deported. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde said, "Ilma Leandro De Oliveria is charged with seven different crimes regarding the sexual victimization of a child in our Massachusetts community. These are crimes we simply will not tolerate."

In a separate incident, a previously deported immigrant living illegally in Massachusetts has been arrested for allegedly conspiring to distribute tens of thousands of fentanyl pills and illegally re-entering the United States.

According to the Boston Herald, 35-year-old Juan Alexis Rodriguez Garcia, from the Dominican Republic, has been unlawfully residing in Lawrence. Federal agents said that Garcia, who was deported years ago following a fentanyl distribution conviction, was recently busted with nearly 65,000 fentanyl pills.

He was initially admitted into the U.S. in 2009 as a lawful permanent resident in Puerto Rico. Then, in 2016, he was arrested in North Andover for fentanyl distribution and was later convicte din 2018. That year, he was deported back to the Dominican Republic and sometime after his removal, he unlawfully re-entered the U.S.

Federal charging documents state that law enforcement officers tried to conduct a controlled purchase of 65,000 fentanyl pills from Garcia on March 30th. Garcia was arrested on site for immigration violations.

During a search of the residence that Garcia allegedly visited right before the planned drug deals, officers found about 64,390 fentanyl pills that were made to look like pharmaceutical pills. The pills were packaged into three separate vacuum sealed plastic bags and found inside a large black duffel bag inside the front closet on the first floor.

Garica's fingerprints matched to latent prints developed from the plastic bags containing the pills. The fentanyl pills had a net weight of more than 7.2 kilograms. Garcia has been charged with conspiracy to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl and unlawful entry of a deported alien.
