Hollywood Tragedy Follows Months of Political Rage and Retreat

BRENTWOOD, CA- When word first came of the death of Hollywood director Rob Reiner, and his wife, Michele Singer, many assumed that Reiner had finally gone off the deep end and ended it all. After all, back in November 2024, Reiner had checked himself into a “facility” after President Trump was elected to a second term in office, according to a blog That Park Place. Now we know that Reiner and his wife were allegedly killed by their son, according to ABC News. More on that in a bit.

The back story on the focus of our original piece was the fact that Reiner, just like Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, Keith Olbermann, Steven Colbert, and Jimmy Kimmel, was not handling Trump’s return to office particularly well. Reiner, who had left the previous left-wing social media platform Twitter (now X) for the greener pastures of the far-left site BlueSky, began posting a series of unhinged posts on that platform.

Beginning on November 5, 2024, Reiner engaged in a series of unhinged posts on BlueSky, however he soon learned that trolls go in both directions. Just like X is now inhabited by left-wing trolls like Harry Sisson, Reiner learned that conservatives likewise headed over to BlueSky to trigger people like Reiner.

And Reiner didn’t handle it well.

“All the abuse and hate from Twitter has now spewed over to here,” Reiner railed in one post. “There seems to be no point anymore.”

“Republicans have no idea what they have done. America has fallen. MAGA just do not understand the consequences of electing a fascist like Donald Trump.”

The tone deafness of Reiner’s post was rich, since “his” president, Joe Biden, had presided over one of the hardest-handed administrations in history, harkening back to FDR. The former president (Trump) was targeted for malicious prosecutions, geriatric grandparents were put in jail for years for trespassing at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, the FBI was sicced on people praying at abortion clinics, and school moms were designated as domestic terrorists by that same agency.

Not finding the overwhelmingly sympathetic audience he was praying for (well, maybe not praying) on BlueSky; he then lashed out at those on that platform.

“This platform is vile, racist, and evil. It did not take long for MAGA scum to come spread their lies,” he complained.

Reiner then took to defending Ellen DeGeneres for moving to England with her partner actress Portia de Rossi.

“Ellen DeGeneres, whom I have known a long time and is a beautiful and caring woman had the right idea. She obviously does not want to be a part of a place that is filled with hate, evil, and fascism. Much respect to her for standing up to madness.”

Later that night, in the early morning hours of Nov. 24, 2024, Reiner said he was checking himself in “to a facility” for a few days.

I’ve made the decision to take the next few days to check into a facility for peace and relaxation,” Reiner wrote. “No phones, social media, no trolls, just calmness to heal my pain.”

He was then “social media silent” for a time after that post.

Now perhaps you can understand our initial inclination to believe the death of the Reiners had been a murder suicide.

What in fact happened is that the Reiners were killed inside their Brentwood home, and their 32-year-old son, Nick, was arrested in connection with their murder. The couple was found stabbed to death by their daughter, who notified authorities. Nick Reiner is being held without bail.

Reiner was not at home when his parents were found. Authorities believe he fled after the stabbings. He was soon located near the University of Southern California campus, where he was arrested. The Reiners’ daughter found her deceased parents, sources told ABC News.

According to sources, Reiner and his son got into an argument at a holiday party on Saturday. They said Nick was “acting strangely.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Monday afternoon that Nick Reiner has been formally booked on murder charges and is being held without bail.

Reiner was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, told reporters the arraignment was postponed because Reiner had not yet been medically cleared to be transported to the courthouse, according to Yahoo.

Aside from his political activities, Reiner was an accomplished Hollywood director and producer, including producing movies such as “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “Stand by Me,” “A Few Good Men,” and many more.

Reiner first came to fame as the far-left son-in-law of Archie Bunker, Michael Stivic, whom Bunker, played by the late, great Carroll O’Connor, referred to as “Meathead” in the classic television series, “All in the Family.” That moniker was pinned on Reiner by conservatives, who made him a whipping boy for his far-left stances.

Reiner was the son of the late comedian Carl Reiner. His first wife, Penny Marshall, of Laverne & Shirley fame, died in 2018.
