WASHINGTON, DC- Daniel Penny, the United States Marine being persecuted by the Manhattan DA’s office for the “crime” of defending a subway carload of commuters from an unhinged lunatic, may soon see himself awarded the nation’s highest civilian honor.
Sources told Fox News Digital Friday that Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) is planning to introduce a resolution to award Penny the Congressional Gold Medal.
“Daniel Penny’s actions exemplify what it means to stand against the grain to do what’s right in a world that rewards moral cowardice,” said Crane, a retired Navy SEAL.
“Our system of ‘justice’ is fiercely corrupt, allowing degenerates to steamroll our laws and our sense of security while punishing the righteous. Mr. Penny bravely stood in the gap to defy this corrupt system and protect his fellow Americans. I’m immensely proud to introduce this resolution to award him with the Congressional Gold Medal to recognize his heroism.”
In what many view as a complete miscarriage of justice, Penny was arrested in connection with the death of Jordan Neely, a homeless career criminal, who was threatening riders on a New York City subway in May 2023.
According to witnesses, Neely told train passengers that “someone’s going to die today” while saying that he didn’t care if he died in pursuit of that in what witnesses called an “erratic” display. Penny grabbed Neely in what was described as a chokehold to restrain him for approximately six minutes. Neely later died however, there were questions about his actual cause of death.
In testimony, Dr. Cynthia Harris, the city’s medical examiner, said that all she needed was a bystander video and investigative findings to support her determination that Neely died from Penny’s chokehold. She dismissed the importance of a toxicological report, which detected the presence of possibly deadly levels of narcotics in his system.
During the trial, Penny’s defense team argued that it was not beyond a reasonable doubt that the chokehold killed Neely while pointing to the presence of the synthetic drug K2 found in Neelly’s system at the time of his death.
On Friday, prosecutors in Penny’s New York City trial asked the trial judge to dismiss the more serious charge of second-degree manslaughter after the jury told the judge they were deadlocked on the charge, CNN reported. That request was granted. The jury will return to deliberate on Monday on the less serious charge of negligent homicide, which still carries a four-year prison sentence.
In his resolution, Crane pointed out that Penny “protected women and children of the city of New York, New York, from violence on May 1, 2023. Crane noted that over the past four years, governments nationwide failed to protect American citizens from violent criminals.
“Throughout President Biden’s term as President, local governments across various cities and states failed to adequately protect residents and their property from violent criminals,” the legislative text previewed by Fox News Digital read.
“Daniel Penny, with others, acted to save New York City subway riders from threatening behavior by restraining a criminal–who had 42 prior arrests and an active warrant–until the police came. The courageous actions taken in response to the threat to his community by Daniel Penny, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran, went beyond the civilian call of duty.”

Penny is a total hero. He saved those people from harm, literally getting down on the filthy floor and risking his own life to stop this criminal. Then, in the name these progressive people have of reparations, they have destroyed his life for the last two years. It is unacceptable! You want to know why you 'progressives' lost this election? This is why! Daniel deserves a metal and so much more. Thank you, Daniel!

A pardon on inauguration day, that stops the persecution in its tracks, and perhaps a position in the administration if there is something that interests him.

Good! He deserves a reward for defending innocent people from that worthless rat, and for eliminating the criminal from society. (I suppose the dead rat's family will sue for wrongful death or some such nonsense.)
