Residents of northern border towns sounding alarm on massive increase in illegal immigration

MOOERS FORKS, NY - The southern border isn't the only place being hit hard by illegal migration under the watch of Joe Biden.

Residents of some communities near the United States' border with Canada are reporting an onslaught of illegal alien crossings close to home. Some say that their plight with the problem is being largely ignored, with focus only set on the tidal wave of illegal immigration engulfing the southern border.

"When you watch the news or talk to people, they talk a lot about the southern border. But there is very little about the northern border," Randy LaCount of Mooers Forks, New York says of the problem, according to Vermont WPTZ.

Some illegal alien groups have become increasingly brazen in their infiltration of the border.

"Four years ago, they didn't want to be seen. They would go through the woods. Once in a while you would see an illegal immigrant. But now you are seeing 10, 12, 15 individuals traveling the roads," LaCount says of the situation.

"Our biggest concern is safety. The infringement on our privacy. You know, our children when they go outside. I have grandchildren. We have friends with children up here. They are scared."

Crossings across the northern border have skyrocketed during fiscal year 2024, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform. Apprehensions of aliens during the first four months of the year amount to a whopping 114% increase over last year. The Swanton Sector, which covers New Hampshire and Vermont, has witnessed more illegal alien crossings in 2023 than in the previous twelve years combined.

Some community members who live in Swanton Sector border towns have even taken to carrying firearms- out of fear for their safety due to the criminal activity.

Most of the migrants that are arriving are adult men, according to LaCount.

Deportations were ground to a halt near the beginning of Joe Biden's tenure, according to The Washington Post.

A gradual decrease in border crossings has coincided with a series of election-year restrictions on the Biden administration's notoriously generous asylum policies, according to CBS News.
