SAN FRANCISCO, CA - A 24-year-old man from San Francisco stands accused of carrying out over two dozen thefts across different Walgreens locations over the past year in the city, which allegedly totaled nearly $40,000 when reviewed by investigators. Nearly half of the alleged thefts occurred after the suspect was released from custody multiple times.
According to authorities, 24-year-old Tyrese Boswell has been arrested multiple times, only to be released, continuing a pattern of targeted shoplifting at Walgreens locations across San Francisco. Boswell’s first arrest back on December 24, 2025, related to 18 alleged thefts carried out at a Walgreens location on the 1100 block of Columbus Avenue.
Following Boswell’s release from custody, authorities claim he carried out seven additional thefts at a different Walgreens location, opting for the location off the 1300 block of Castro Street before being arrested once again on April 4th. The suspect was released from custody once again and was subsequently arrested on April 16th for two additional alleged thefts at the same Castro Street Walgreens.
To date, Boswell has allegedly accumulated a combined 27 thefts across the Walgreens locations mentioned, which has translated into nine felony counts of second-degree burglary, seven felony counts of grand theft, seven felony counts of petty theft with prior convictions, and a single misdemeanor count of possession of stolen property.
The San Francisco Police Department issued a statement regarding Boswell’s latest arrest alongside the apprehension of four others accused of engaging in organized retail theft, highlighting the department’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force as “continuing its rigorous efforts to apprehend prolific retail theft suspects.”
Boswell’s case, along with three of the other suspects apprehended for alleged organized retail theft, has had its case “assigned to the ORC Vertical Prosecutor within the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office,” according to the department, claiming that doing so will “ensure these serial offenders face appropriate criminal justice consequences.”
