Several shootings across Memphis, TN leave at least six people dead and over a dozen injured

MEMPHIS, TN - It was a violent Thanksgiving weekend in Memphis, Tennessee, with a total of six people killed by gun violence and another 15 injured between November 23rd and November 26th. 

According to reports, an infant is in the hospital after a shooting incident that took place in the morning hours on Sunday, November 26th, in Highland Heights. Someone fired multiple shots at several houses and one of those bullets hit an infant, who was transported to a hospital to undergo brain surgery. 

The baby's mother, Isis Gomez, said that little Georgina was in bed with her family when they suddenly heard gunshots. Gomez noticed that the seven-month old baby was bleeding, realizing that she was shot in the head after a stray bullet made its way into the home.

The baby's father, Geurgen Enamorado, said that they are seeking justice for whoever shot those bullets, asking police to find the people that did this to their baby girl. He also called for tougher sentencing, saying that people who commit crimes need to be held accountable.

Around 4:00 a.m., just four hours after the shooting in Highland Heights, officers received calls about a man that had been shot at CC's Blues Club on Thomas Street in North Memphis. In addition to these two shootings, Memphis police are investigating a homicide after finding a man shot to death on the Interstate 55 Bridge. The man's body was found on the morning of Sunday, November 26th.

Just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25th, a man was fatally shot on Mount Moriah Road near Hickory Hill. The man was transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. He later died from those injuries. 

On Saturday night, November 25th, two people were severely injured after a shooting took place in Binghampton. Police responded to the shooting at 2509 Summer Avenue just before 11:00 p.m. Only the woman was shot; the man was suffered a laceration. Both were taken to a nearby hospital. Police have detained a man they believe is responsible for the shooting. However, the investigation remains ongoing. 

Police said that a group was on a party bus when the driver stopped for people to use the restroom. At that moment, the driver and a man on the bus got into a verbal argument. The driver would not let anyone back on the bus, so a man and woman starting shooting at the driver. Then, someone in a car pulled up and shot at those two suspects.

On Friday, November 24th, two people were hospitalized after a shooting that took place in Orange Mound. The two individuals were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police do not have any information on a possible suspect.

On Friday morning, a man died after being shot in East Memphis. Police responded to the shooting in the 3900 block of Willow Cove around 10:33 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he later died. 

Just before 3:00 p.m., on Friday, November 24th, a man was shot in the 700 block of Edith. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. 

On Thursday, November 23rd, a 15-year-old was fatally shot in Binghampton. Police stated that two teens have been charged with the victim's death. There was a shooting in Hickory Hill that left two people dead. A man was seriously injured after a shooting in North Memphis and four people were injured after a shooting in Bethel Grove.
