Shots Fired Inside Texas Bar Over Cowboys Game Dispute

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – A 53-year-old Texas man is facing felony charges after authorities say the suspect fired off a gun while patronizing a North Richland Hills watering hole during Cowboys game earlier in September, with police claiming the suspect fired his weapon inside of the bar after another patron “was looking at him” while the game was on.

Things apparently got a bit explosive during the Cowboys – Packers game on September 28th, but the explosions were reportedly not proverbial and didn’t occur on the field, as police arrested a man identified as David Callum for allegedly firing a weapon while patronizing a North Richland Hills sports bar during the game.

According to a press release from the North Richland Hills Police Department, officers responded to a sports bar located off the 5300 block of Rufe Snow Drive, later identified as the Thirsty Turtle bar, at approximately 10:00 p.m. on September 28th after a call came in claiming shots were fired inside of the establishment.

When officers arrived on scene, witnesses had pointed out Callum to police, claiming he’d fired “off several rounds inside the business.” Other patrons inside of the bar had already restrained the suspect before police arrived, according to authorities, and no injuries were reported regarding the incident.

In a follow-up press release from the department, authorities detailed that Callum has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a weapon where prohibited in connection to the incident.

Officials also afforded additional insight into the motive behind the alleged bar shooting as well as the suspected number of rounds fired during the incident.

“Callum reportedly became agitated when he presumed another patron of the bar was looking at him while watching Sunday night’s game,” the press release reads, adding, “An argument then began, at which time Callum produced a gun and fired off a round during the disturbance.”

Tarrant County court records have yet to reflect Callum’s charges as of this writing, nor is there any insight on future court appearances.
