SILOAM, GA - A lawsuit has been filed against two teachers at a small private Christian school for allegedly sexually assaulting the same student.
According to the New York Post, the accuser's lawyer said that more teachers may be involved, but that right now 25-year-old Bonnie Elizabeth Brown and 60-year-old Sherri Delle Mauldin, have both been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly abusing the student while they taught at the K-12 Nathanael Greene Academy.
On Monday, March 24th, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the charges against Brown and Mauldin. Brown is a former homecoming queen at the same school. The unidentified accuser issued a statement through attorney Ashley Mitchell, saying, "These women took advantage of their positions as my teachers."
Without detailing how old they were when the alleged abuse happened, the accuser said, "My school did not protect me as a child." The accuser added, "I see that now, and I hope that these arrests will protect our community and children in it." The accuser also said that they were "relieved" at the arrests of Brown and Mauldin.
Mitchell said that the teachers abused the pupil "at the school and outside the school." The attorney said that one of the teachers had previously been cited by school officials for inappropriate conduct with the student. She did not, however, name which of the two she was talking about.
Mitchell also said there may be more victims and more abusers. She added, "There is information to suggest that potentially other teachers may have been involved with other victims." Brown was arrested on Friday night, March 21st, for having sexual contact with the accuser while employed at the school, where she graduated from and was named homecoming queen in 2016.
At the time of her arrest, Brown had been teaching at a primary school in Wilkes County. She has been charged with improper sexual contact by an employee, agent, or foster parent. Mauldin was arrested on Monday, March 24th after an investigation by GBI revealed that she had also sexually abused the accuser while she was employed by the school.
She has been charged with improper sexual contact by an employee, agent, or foster parent, aggravated child molestation, and statutory rape. The Greene County Sheriff's Office was tipped off to the abuse in June of 2024 and asked GBI to look into the allegations. The Nathanael Green Academy said that neither woman has worked at the school for a year.
According to 11Alive, Mitchell emphasized the difficulty victims face in coming forward. She said, "Students who are being groomed by teachers are in a very difficult situation. It's not until they're removed from the situation and have the opportunity to process what happened that they feel comfortable speaking out."
She added, "I think there is somewhat of a double standard between high school victims who are underage who are being groomed by females as opposed to men."
On Monday, school officials issued a statement saying they are aware of the teachers' arrests and is cooperating with investigators. The administration and its board of trustees will be holding an emergency closed-door meeting to discuss the matter. School officials said, "NGA's Administration and Board of Trustees will be providing further information following the emergency board meeting."
Regarding Brown's employment, the Wilkes County School District released a statement: "On Wednesday, March 19th, a teacher from Washington-Wilkes Primary School was arrested by local law enforcement. School officials were not aware of the arrest until after the individual was taken into custody, nor were informed of the criminal charges until the information was made public by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Friday.
This individual is no longer a teacher at WWPS. While we understand that the circumstances leading to these charges occurred prior to her employment with Wilkes County Schools, we are fully prepared to cooperate with the GBI in their ongoing investigation and any legal proceedings."
The investigation remains ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, GBI will turn the case over to the Ocmulgee District Attorney's Office.

As I gaze upon these images. I can see where the trauma starts. Only God can heal him now, poor child.
